Hi all. My name's hayder, and i've got a family with 2 young kids.

Been browsing this site for a while (when I was searching for a new car), now decided to join so I can ask a few questions...

The family have decided on a Skoda to be our car for the next 5-7 years. We're either going for the new Octavia L&K 1.8TSi DSG or the Superb SE with the TSi DSG combo.

basically something big, economical, reliable, and with auto box and leather interior. The only alternative at this price range being the Citroen C5 (which, although prettier than the Skoda), probably won't last the planned 7 year service life for the car.

Now here's my question to Skoda experts... I work between the UK and mainland europe. I spend maybe 60-70% of the year in europe and the rest in the UK, we plan to use the car on the mainland and in the UK... hence I want to buy an LHD car... I found that the cars in the UK are actually much cheaper than mainland europe (pound crash vs the Euro), but this has meant that the dealer in north london that I contacted wouldn't agree to sell me an LHD configured car (I do have a UK address and work + pay taxes here...), of course I could get it from a european dealer... but of course I'd rather not pay the "eurozone tax" (pay 3-4000 euros more), and since my money and savings are all in pounds I would lose a lot due to the pounds depreciation...

if anyone has experience of a dealer willing to supply an LHD car in the UK, UK registered, with the UK price tag then please let me know....

thanks in advance.

Hey welcome along! I think you will probably have to buy on the continent and get one and then register over here as I don't know if UK dealers will supply LHD. Also if doing big miles abroad don't discount the 20 CR TDI 170 DSG in the Supurb. Not driven it but those on here that have like it!

thanks for the suggestions...

that's really gonna be painful.

on Škoda UK's website a Superb Elegance 1.8 TSI 160bhp 7spd DSG is £22.6k

on Skoda's hungarian website Skoda Magyarország the same vehicle is 9.18M Hungarian Forints (£28.7k)

This car is the same spec, the taxes in both countries are about the same... Hungary should be closer to the czech factory for delivery purposes...

I do wonder what Skoda is up to with their pricing here?

Should I risk it with an RHD car in Europe if all else is lost...

Hello and welcome Hayder :wave23d:

Welcome :)

Hiya.

There's a couple of Skoda dealers are members on here, and might be able to discuss whether or not they are allowed to supply LHD cars to special order.
