couple of years ago I was in my R33 Skyline (GTS-T not GTR, so only about 300bhp) on the slip road joining the M27 at j9 (towards portsmouth)

Noticed a Monaro in the inside lane alongside me so booted it in second gear thinking "I'll show him..."

Seconds later he was in lane 3 about half a mile in front of me and I was still joining the motorway (at well in excess of the limit...)

Soooooooo embarrassing!

You looser! Lol :P

I just don't even try against anything else on road... obviously! :D

Unless of course I know they will boot it so I can hear their lovely engine etc.

My next door neighbour had an imported Scooby WRX some 400bhp. That was very quick...

not sure wish was the fastest but i came hoofing up behind a 400bhp evo in my van at double his speed(50mph Vs 25mph) and he simply moved away from like i was on a big elastic band, very impressive. the other was in my octavia when it was remapped+extra's running low 200's and tried to hassle a merc CLS AMG and he simply drove away from me with no drama at all and i was flat out :D

You sure it was that old?!

It would put it somewhere along the lines of this:

Yep it was something like that!!! No roof :D

Was wondering if it had an outside starter.:thumbup:

back in '04 on the way to LeMans i saw the TVR Cerbera 4.5 in front of me at the peage give it the full beans away from the gate, the noise was fantastic and it disappeared from view pretty rapidly

Can't get the engine, but a Cricklewood "team car" or replica, so no later than 1929, but they did have electric starters (and handles unless they were 4.5 blowers).

A mate of mine moved up from a Scooby to a 996 Ruf twin turbo, running 565bhp and 590 lb/ft. 0-60 was astounding, but when he booted it from 70 it was unreal. The massive torque surged it to a very, VERY high speed, leaving my internal organs and eyeballs on the rear parcel shelf.

Another mate took me for a spin on track in his 360 Challenge Stradale. Braking from 170 was nearly vomit inducing, it was almost the first time a car made me puke.

Yet another mate treated me to a run in his Ariel Atom 300+. Maybe not the fastest top speed, but on a twisty track there is very little else in the world which is road legal which could come close. The Scooby's on track suddenly looked like they were running on one cylinder.

My old sales director invited me to have a go in his 360. I remember seeing 8,500rpm on the central revcounter, and an LED '5' displaying the gear, but didn't notice what speed this was on the tiny offset speedo. Needless to say, we were moving a bit.

Just before selling my own Scooby, complete with the full Litchfield/Powerstation Type 20 suspension set-up, I had a few last blasts in the Lakes and Dales. After three years ownership and some extensive performance driving tuition I was at one with that car, and saw cornering speeds which would be considered insane, suicidal and reckless. However, passengers always commented that if they weren't aware of the speedo reading, the experience felt calm and controlled, albeit exciting and exhilarating.

Having lived near goodwood for years, i've seen all sorts of fast stuff.

My personal experience was being a passenger in a workmates Ariel Atom. Its one thing going fast in a porsche or ferrari, its a completely dfferent thing doing 0-100 in a piece of scaffolding on wheels.

That said, i still to this day remember the look of dispair on a porsche drivers face, when an old friends highly modified, standard looking Sierra Cosworth humiliated him from a set of lights.

I've had some fast cars, but have learnt you never race Evos, Imprezas, Skylines or Cosworths, because chances are, theres heavy modification under the bonnet

Fastest most powerful car I've ever seen / been in is my best friends Nissan skyline r33 gtr v spec

pulled up on a motorway entry slip road, handbrake on holding the revs at 6.5k let the clutch out slighty so it comes on boost then just let the clutch out, needless to say it's the quickest I've ever been 197mph on 2 sat navs all in under 20 seconds. And when people ask he just says standard lmao

Braking from 170 was nearly vomit inducing, it was almost the first time a car made me puke.

how can this be when brakes have nothing to do with braking, its all the tyres you know :)

I drove a brand spanking new RS6 yesterday and i definately used all 580 horses :D:D

Ultima GTR on M4 Wales side.

I was on my Suzuki SV1000, travelling at a good rate and this guy must have been doing 140mph+

Oh, right. Tomorrow I may remove my brake discs and calipers then. No point carrying around unnecessary weight

Passenger in a 300BHP 20v T (@ the wheels) Golf never **** my self in all my life!!

Maybe also due to the fact he sold the 19" Mags and put golf match wheels on temporarly!

Pure clutch burning drive it like you stole it take offs amazingly scary!

But made me want a big turbo conversion...sadly i dont have the no consequence driving style of my friend... in fact quite the opposite.

saw a late 80's dynalynx tuned audi ur quattro waste a lotus carlton at southend on sea, awesome, sounded like a jet turbine

Just saw this thread, searching for another I read.

Years back saw a TVR Cerbera at the traffic lights in newcastle. It had to do a hard right turn onto the main road through Jesmond.

It was raining slightly.

Right filter came on, TVR reved it's engine, TVR did a 180 degrees and ended up pointing the wrong way half way across the junction, VERY near to the stationary oncoming traffic.

Guy looked sheepish as did his gf.

Pillock! I bet he felt a right t1t :D

Well I have heard that Cerberas are brutal, if driven carelessly it will bite hard!!

Pretty much any TVR will do that to you, they don't suffer fools gladly :)

Anyway, sounds like he deserved it - raining, in a TVR, 90 degree right - "oh, I know what, I'll put some revs on and slip the clutch"

I was just thinking in terms of power to weight the workmates atom is a winner, it blew a DB9 into the dust up a slip road.

Had a nice effortless cruise as a passenger in a taxi a while back,

BMW 730D, talking to the driver about how nice it was,

he gave a quick demo of why "there ain't no replacement for displacement"

Anyone squeezed a 3.0 unit into an Octy yet? :D

I cover quite a few KMs on German Autobahns and every now & then...

Something will go by that's had it's limiter snipped off.. usually a 911

Followed a new Range Rover TDV8 down a slip-road recently,

sadly the driver seemed to have a very short right leg!
