It seems to vary from car to car, driver to driver.. at 32 all around the shoulders of my tyres were wearing far too quickly and the tyres were very hot at the end of every journey.

Up to 34 and it was marginally better.

At 36 they're wearing perfectly, gripping fine. My only complaint would be I feel every bloody stone through the steering wheel - though that is partly down to the cupra console bushes.

I do take your point though - given it's actually a fairly high pressure ;)

I also ran 36 in the front, and 28 in the back. The sidewalls are made of cheese on the F1's and IMHO don't suit the Fabia at all.

I agree with this. They are also poor in the cold.

Toyo's last a whole 5mins, I need a harder compound....

I'm more than happy with my eagle f1s and see them as faultless in weather that has temperatures above about 5 degrees c, at 36psi. ;)

Tyre preference varies so wildly that anything I found "wrong" as such with the GSD3's, could have someone else wondering wtf I am talking about. I personally found the Goodyears to be poor for initial traction - or "off the line" and poor for harder cornering. Day to day use they are fine, but so are a set of remoulds.

Toyo's don't last a long time, no. The reason is simply because tyres are a compromise between long life and grip. If they grip they dont last, if they last - they dont grip as well.

Out of all the tyres I tried on the fabia in various states of tune, I found the Conti's to be the worst by a long way. Next would be the GSD3's (although these tyres worked well on the Octavia at circa 260bhp). Suprisingly good were the Bridgestone ER300? Standard fitment if you didnt get Conti's. The best road tyre for the Fabia vrs, by far IMHO are the Toyo T1R's. The absolute best tyre I ever tried was the Toyo 888's. They do last only 4k though.

As a sidenote, I tried many variations of pressure before I arrived at the conclusion of 36psi for the Goodyears ;)

I'm quite happy with my P-Zero Nero's. Better than F1's in my opinion. Just out of interest why wouldn't you run them at the pressure suggested inside the fuel filler cover?

But wouldn't the factory setting be designed to give the best grip anyway?

I run 36psi in the F1's on the front. They need replacing tho in a couple of thousand and I deffo won't be having F1's again I don't like them.

Any particular reason you don't like them? Grip? Wear behaviour? Limit point? Turn in?

Re: deviating from factory 'settings'... that's because the factory settings apply to the tyres supplied with the car. Remember that other tyres have softer/harder rubber, sidewalls, etc, and may therefore require a different pressure to maintain the same "footprint" as the original tyres.

I deviate from the pressures printed on the flap because they are quite frankly horridly wrong for my current tyres.

I find that because I have to run them at 36 I don't think they offer much grip in the wet, not as good as the contis I had on before. Plus I had them over the winter and they are worse than useless in snow/icy conditions.

:D I admit they're not GREAT in ice and snow, but I've found them to be smack on in wet weather at 36. I am comparing them to the budgets I had on before, though...

I would agree with some of the guys who run 36psi as thats what I've been running to avoid wear on the shoulders as I have reported in another post.

Does make the ride rougher and more noisy, but I can live with that.

According to Skoda as written on the fuel flap and the pressure list in the sticky thread Briskoda - Fabia tyre pressures at normal loads you should run it as 33 PSI (2.3Bar) front and 32 PSI (2.2Bar) rear. That's what I run them as.

Each tyre is different, each driver is different - it's all fine and well running a generic safe tested pressure, but if you don't run OEM fitment tyres, and you like to drive enthusiastically then that 3psi can make a world of change to the tyre behaviour.
