Automatic wipers

Featured Replies

Mmmmmm....another big NO to automatic wipers !!

Drove in rain yesterday for 1st time and wot a frustration.

Intermittent doesn't work, ran continuously or at high speed, when only the shortest intermittent setting was necessary.

Do the adjustments on the Intermittent setting make any difference....didn't try this?

Is there not a wire could be snipped to disconnect the rain sensor?

Otherwise pleased withcontrols, especially cruise !!

Use the adjustment on the top of the r/h stalk and clean your screen using vinegar over the sensor area. You'll find it much better.

The auto wipers cant be coded out, and the sensor also controls lighting so cant be removed or wires cut.

Napier: The slidy- switch (technical term!) on the top of the wiper stalk adjusts the sensitivity of the wiper sensor.

I find my auto wipers work great. When i drive a car now without them i find myself forgetting to turn them off!

Ok genuine fish n chips vinegar supplied by SWMBO going on tonight......so sods law it wont rain tomorrow !!!!

Ta 4 all suggestions.

The wipers either slow down to intermittent, or stop, without auto wipers - when the car is stationary.

Let's just reitterate that they DO actually work, just not very well designed, and that's the lottery! It's not an issue that they're busted, just very poor in function.

They have been doing this since day one when I picked it up with 3 miles on the clock so i'd be fairly confident that the screen was perfectly clean at that time, if not now. (although the way I treat it and what I use, it will be spotless)

Vinegar is magical stuff!

Vinegar is magical stuff!

Because......?

Just because your car was new, doesnt mean the screen was cleaned correctly during PDI. And you shouldnt really be using any screen glossy stuff (like rain x) anywhere near the sensor. This can cause issues (as a search will confirm ;))

My screen was absolutely bloody filthy when I picked my new car up with only 3 miles on the clock,,,,,,,,,
