MFD3 on Ebay

Featured Replies

Just looking at the sellers other items there are no bids against any of them?? There again looking generally at MFD's on ebay there doesn't seem to be that many bids on a lot of the items, perhaps the recession is putting people off of 'luxuries' like MFD's

If you check his feedback it looks as though he's sold several previously, and always got positive comments. You might be able to send a message to one of those buyers to ask if they've had any problems.

Hmmm, wish i had the money .

Anyone want to buy a used pikey witson mfd???

Nope :)

I think a number of members on here got their MFD3s from them.

Hi, does anybody know can this unit be used with the Skoda sound system (amp + 12 speakers) ??

Yes it can, but the unit will need appropriate coding to say that its connected to the sound system and not normal speakers.

Yes I have been toying with idea of mfd3 but I am keen to retain parking sensors on the display like the stream unit has and can not find a 100% answer of a mfd3 will show the same with my car. The post code search at only 5 digit is a bit old hat vs a up-to-date tomtom etc. Also £640 has something to do with it too!

I did email the him on ebay and ask what map version comes with and below reply:

"hi

i have no disc, maps loaded on hdd and are v3.

- jarastech"

So that's another £120 for V4 DVD then on top of £640....

James.

Parking display is lost, but the beeps remain. You can get the parking display back, but you need to change the parking distance controller and possibly the can gateway. TBH you wont miss them, I dont and have no problems parking.

The V4 maps are quiet out of date now, and based on data from Q4 2007. I have modified my V4 disk with the map data from bmw 2009-2 professional and now have maps based on Q4 2008. Instructions are on the gpsunderground forum.

Just seen this thread.

I bought my RNS510 from this guy last year.

When it arrived, unfortunately it had a problem and wouldn't eject CDs.

I contacted the guy and returned it to him.

3 days later it came back to me all repaired and 100% working.

Very good chap to deal with - I can certainly recommend him.

V4 doesn't add anything to the postcode search - it is still only 5 characters.

However as every RNS510 owner will tell you - the SatNav is every bit as good as a TomTom or Navi unit.

You certainly don't need the V4 maps, the V3 will do absolutely fine.

Considering the first to buy RNS510's paid around £1k and recently they could still sell for £800 this is a good price.

I'm thinking of buying one of these. What's the story with bluetooth? I have the OEM bluetooth is the MFD got bluetooth built in or do i keep my OEM bluetooth.

It doesn't have BT in-built Micky, so you'd retain the use of your existing unit.

And depending on the version of the OEM BT you get full control and other goodies on the RNS510 screen.

One more quick q. These are plug and play? The plug fits directly in? I only really have to fit the gps ariel somewhere?

Yes, they really are plug and play. Take a look at my installation photos here . The gps antennas you get with these tend to be magnetic and can be stuck on this crash beam thus...

Micky - If you're upgrading from a Stream head unit, you'll need a new silver trim from your dealer to go around the RNS510 as it is slightly smaller. I got 1Z0858069R2AU which is what you'll want as you've also got climatronic. Octavia-vRS.com - MFD2 Install Guide also suggests 1Z0858069L2AU or 1Z0858069Q2AU will work.

Yeah i have the dual climate.

I have been doing a search on the net and found a company called 'OEM Retrofits.co.uk'. They will supply and fit the MFD3 for £750 + £15 for the additional facia trim.

Check out their website: OEM Retrofits.co.uk - VAG Sat Nav Specialists

All units are refurbished to a high 'as-new' standard and come with a 3 month warranty.

Worth a look if you are prepared to pay £650+ on eBay and then £40 p&p!

I myself will be giving them a call shortly to discuss fitment.

I gave those guys a call when I was looking for one. They said they could do me one for £725, but I didn't really push them on the price so they might come down a bit if you try. In the end I got one from seller grielka on ebay for £600 + £25 and couldn't be happier. Totally perfect as new condition, plastic wrapped and fast delivery.

The Photo under Skoda mfd looks a bit VW with red buttons. But like you said 3 month warranty for a small bit more on ebay with no warranty plus the safety of credit card vs fleebay....

I'm still waiting for them to call me back. Did you manage to get booked in? They have assured me that it is a skoda unit, not the VW, so Green lights not red like the pic.

Has any one bought a MFD3 from this guy called "tommy-cupra" in Czech Rep on:

RNS 510 brand new - Page 11 - VWnavi.com

He seems to do them judging from posts there, but you would be buying blind so to say and £600+ is a lot to do that with!
