Featured Replies

Have just checked and it says there is no signal .....checked the signal test and it is up and down faster than a fiddlers elbow ....BUT is it "no signal" or is it not recieving one into the electronics....could it be the box thats faulty? just off to maplins to buy a signal meter.......anybody else have or has had the same problem

Hard switch off then back on, should sort it!

We do have some trees that are right on the edge of the signal path but have been suitably butchered  so I think I will get the meter just to make sure before I ring them

Is it raining heavy in your area ???

If so the lnb may have water in the connection.

Get the ladders out and dry it then seal it with insulation tape if thats the case

Might be a daft answer but Spiders tend to live in the end of the dish thingy where the wires go in (L&B???). This happened to me so I cleared them out.............Evidently signals can't pass through a spider..........Strange

Its also possible the dish may have moved in the strong winds, it only needs to move a tiny amount for signal to be lost.

I had a slow signal degradation on my sky+ over a period of about 3 months, re terminated the co-ax cables to the LNB and sealed with self amalgamating tape, then I bought a decent quality quad LNB and fitted it, slight improvement but still dropping off gradually.

Eventually bit the bullet and bought a new Pace Sky 160 box off ebay, problem solved

We are well out of warranty and i'm buggered if i'm going to pay for something I can easily fix myself.

Start with the cheap/easy fixes first and work your way up, last resort is the box.

Think I may have to call sky out ...it looks like I have signal on both inputs so it could be the amstrad box....

Just resorted back to freeview and have a better picture...

am i right in thinking that the box isnt covered by sky? ie if it breaks tough unless you want to buy a new one.

This is the second box ...so is well in the 12 month guarantee ....about 10 months inside to honest

Strange... the folks have had exactly the same problem!

We have narrowed it down to the box dying.. not bad going really saying its one of the very original and slow pace models

The amstrad boxes, iirc, are weak. Our routinely went on an almost annual basis - no signal being received, then packed up responding all together. The tuners inside are the cuplrit from all the research I did after the third box in as many years.

The Panasonic boxes are far more robust.

That said, I'm considering letting another company dig up the front garden to lay a cable.....

My mate had the same problem today too, he thinks it may be due to sky being in the process of issuing new viewing cards to everyone
