2002 mk1 Octavia 110 TDi hatch (L&K) - doing mostly town miles of 4k a year.

How much oil do i need? 4.5L or so?

What type? is 10w40 semi-synth OK?

I believe (fading memory of owning one) that the TDI 110 (ASV) engine can use VW505.0 oil for fixed servicing. I forget if it's VW505.0 or VW506.0 for fixed.

Using VW507 oil should be fine too if you can't find the others.

i think:

VW507 is for variable servicing (and is more expensive),

505 and the later revision, 506 are for fixed. I do mostly town driving, so need to do fixed servicing.
