Hello all,

I have finally managed to move acroos to the DSLR realm with a Nikon D60 18-55mm VR Kit!

Found a really good price for it - £330 - so I snapped it up!

Is there anything you guys would recommend buying (other than the usual)? As many articles I read say to buy a UV filter for protection?

Any help much appreciated!

your best with a few memory cards of the high speed nature of say 2gb. You can use larger capacity cards, however if one corrupts you will have lost all your photo's, whereas having several minimizes the risk. Another tip is to format them in the camera every couple of cycles once you have transeferred your photos from them to eliminate corruption.

I would say get Thom Hogan's book, but have just realised he hasn't written one on the D60

BOBJIM - Got that price off Dixins Tax Free (£330.42) and as I had a friend travelling to London I had them pick it up for me! (You can buy it as its Tax-free, not Duty-free!)

Wouldn't be my first purchase, never ran out of juice yet with my D70s, generally have found with batteries if you exercise them they last better

In order I would suggest

£

15 UV filter (essential)

40 Lowepro slingshot or equivalent

20 Polarising filter

50 Tripod

90 50mm f1.8

After that it's buy what you can afford. I find it's quite good as it's got me back into the savings routine to save up for a lens or a better tripod etc. I bought cheaper lens to start with, eg sigma 18-200 for £150 to see if I'd actually use it, and am saving up for a much better telephoto lens.
