Favorit vs Passat

Featured Replies

Not racing :P

Took a Passat 1.8 on a trip to Leicester and back with my sister and decided to work out the mpg and see if the trip computer was accurate.

Trip comp data

MPG fig 1 = 39.7mpg and 2 = 40.3 (ones average and the others instant not sure which ones which!!) Trip meter is 281.5 and tank size is 62l used half a tank.

I've worked it out to 40.1 mpg thats close to my best in the Favorit/Felicia at near 42.

Considering I left the full climate on all the way back and most of the way there.

Think the a/c needs a good flush as I had a headache afterwards.

Does having the full climate/ac on dent fuel economy for some people?

And theres me thinking this was another 'willy waving' kinda thread

The A/C will always hurt the fuel consumption, the compressor takes at least 2-3 BHP from the engine, could be more.

Did you have the recirc on for any amount of time? the A/C will prevent the car misting up with the recirc on but the air quality will deteriorate rapidly.

No I left the recirc off, I think. I didnt press the recirc button.

My mate says having the AC on in his Corolla D4D hurts the economy.
