Vehicle Bluetooth Integration

Featured Replies

Can you tell me what is a good phone for bluetooth integration with a car telephone system? I have a Nokia N85 and it's pants. I know a few members on here have had trouble with Nokias in the past, and I'm having trouble with it in the beemer. It'll sync with the car's bluetooth, but then drop connection within 3 or 4 minutes. And the car can't read the contacts on the phone.

Anyone have any good experiences with bluetooth?

N96 works fine in the works car.

IIRC there's a firmware update for the BMW system that makes N-series work properly.

I never even thunk of that! Would I have to get it done at the dealers?

Anything sony erricson will work really well

Yup. Forget who makes the BT kit, but it's the same as the VAG stuff - and some of those modules need an update to work correctly with newer N series in pre 08 cars.

I assume it's because the BT stacks changed, as well as what can be controlled by the car. Ford system gives me full in/out/missed etc on my personal N96, but only contacts and redial on the works N73.

What year is the BMW, and does it have i-drive computer? If yes, then defo a FW upgrade needed depending on age of car.

Yes It's idrive from way back in Dec 2006. I will have to consult the Beemer forums to find out what's the latest FW. Cheers.

My N95 doesn't download the contacts either in the Leon. Agree with Mr VR above, Sony Ericsson are spot on.

N95 and VAG bluetooth is a known problem, it affects ALL symbian S60 phones and contact downloads. There are work arounds to get this working, have a look at the bluetooth install guide on stus website as it has a howto at the bottom. Octavia-vrs.com

I will disagree a little there mate, I have an E71 (Symbian) and that downloads all the contacts, missed, dialed and recieved calls to the OEM bluetooth kit. But, my N95 and an N95 8GB dont.
