The 'New' Octy ?

Featured Replies

I would imagine it was just a left over stock one that was lying around by a dockside. Loads of 58 plate Mk1's over here, mainly white taxis. Although I've seen a red 09 plate one.

Wasn't there something in Auto Express recently about SUK re-introducing the Mark 1 as a "budget brand" car ? There are loads of this model registered 08 around Lancashire - presumably sold by Simpsons ?

As far as I know they are still being made for Taxi firms

They are still available to order over here. I think they where re-introduced to the price list last year, they are being specifically aimed at the Taxi industry.

I've seen quite a few '07 and '57 plate MkIs about :)

The Czech firm has been producing contemporary Octavias since 1996 (the first cars to sport the name were produced in the 1960s).

In 2004, the current generation model was launched. However, due to huge demand, the older model (now called the Octavia Tour) was also kept in production.

Altogether the company has produced 1,315,000 first-generation Octavias and 685,000 second-generation Octavias since the market launch 12 years ago.Škoda delivered 72,529 Octavia Tours and 237,422 new Octavias in 2007

Thanks for the answers folks...

Over here it's called the Octavia Tour. In production until 2012 AFAIK. Saw one today with a 2009 Irish reg

Aren't they (mk1) now built in Sarajevo or Kazakhstan? Maybe someone with vin or in the know could post....

The web site:

?koda Octavia Tour - Look ?koda Auto -

Not for the EU, since you'll have 10% customs tax on top of everything else, and 10% in a car's price is a lot these days.

Oh, we've had Octi mk1s on sale here since they came out and we still do, they were always a popular budget alternative, companies and private buyers together.

I believe they sell it in india too as the Skoda Laura

The Laura is the Mk2. They still sell the Mk1 under the Octavia name.

Saw an 09 reg MK I taxi in Southampon yesterday, in the obligatory white!

That will earn it's keep.... good for mega-miles these....

Correct me if I am wrong.... Think these are known as the Octavia Classic..

Got taken home by an 08 plate one the other night. It was a turbo diesel and all the seats mock leather plastic. Could not see what the carpets were as it was dark and I was a bit merry!

And these taxi spec ones get the PD105 engine which was never an option when they were on general sale.
