What type of oil? Skoda Fabia 1.4 2003. Please help!

Featured Replies

Afternoon all.

Can somebody please advise what type os oil is best for me to be putting in my Skoda Fabia Estate 1.4 2003. Have had a look in manual and my calculations led me to fill it with: Havoline Extra (Part Synthetic) 10W-40 but a friend with exactly the same car uses Castarol Magnatec?

Can somebody please help and advise which oil and brand is best?

Many thanks,

Adrian

If its the 16V then fully synthetic 5W-40 from some where like Fuchs - Titan Supersynth SL - get it from GSF should do the trick

Thanks for reply.

It is 16 V so will definately keep an eye out for it.

Is it therefore best to use fully synthetic and keep with the same brand. I have mix and matched a couple of times now and would prefer to just pick one and stick with it.

I will keep an eye out for Fuchs.... but must admit that I am not familiar with who that is so therefore dont think that there is one near me.

Can anyone recommend a brand which I can buy in most garages/superstores please?

Thank you!

There's bound to be a GSF or Euro Car Parts near you, and they sell Fuchs (which is what I use in our 1.4 16V Lupo) but Halfords will sell something suitable

Fuchs oils are what VAG use at their engine plants (so it is said). Fuchs bought over an oil supplier that operated in UK as Silkolene - Silkolene used to target heavy and agricultural plant and used the outline of Concorde in flight as their brand mark - very futuristic for the late 1960's. So Fuchs has probably improved their image in UK. GSF or www.gsfcarparts.com operate an online shop as well as having regional branches, if you order online then you don't pay postage - I bought my last Fuchs Titan Supersynth SL that way - and can give you their stock number for the oil I used on a 1.4 16V VAG engine. I think that you will find that this is the cheapest way to buy reasonable synthetic oil - oil cmes in 4 litre plastic containers.
