Bulb Failure Module

Featured Replies

As previously posted the warning light for bulb failure on my dash seems to have a life of its own ! Have replaced both brake bulbs now and also checked the high level light but still the warning light on the dash seems to go on and off all of its own accord ! Sometimes when I am just sitting in the car, with it running on the drive ,... then a week goes by (400 miles later ) and nothing, then a couple of days with it beeping and on and off etc etc ....

Eventually I have resigned myself to letting the dealer have a look - althought they better not wipe grease on the seats/carpet or ground thje chin spolier (noone is ever careful in my experience) !!

Just wondered if anyone knew the loaction of the bulb failure module in the car .... just in case they need to replace it ? I am hoping it is somewhere really accesible and not behinf the dash etc .... other option is can it be turned off by VAGCOM, would be no great loss as far as I am concerned I know all of the lights work fine

It has a sensor? I presumed it would be wired into the circuitry?

I had this the other day...

The passenger side sidelight and rear light were out, but after a few "reboots" (ie engine off and on) the warning light stopped illuminating, and the front and rear lights sprang back into life!

Good one!!

Glad someone else is having a similar problem .. although I do not think the 'reboot' ie ignition on and off a few times should be the fix ! Especially as the other day on the M25 it came on and off about 6 times in the space of about 10miles sometimes only for a few seconds .... can't really turn the key in the outside lane.

Anyone else have any thoughts ? Is there a sensor or is it just a voltage drop it detects in the lighting circuit .. any Skoda/VW mechanics out there who may know the answer ? I think I would rather turn it off completely as I really can't find a problem with any of the bulbs as I have managed to turn on all of the lights and jam a crooklock against the break pedal on a couple of occasions when it was happening and all seemed well with all of the bulbs !

Is driving me mad .. booked in next Saturday at the dealers and they are going to check the diagnostics to see if there is anything 'logged' ... dont hold out much hope though !

Must be loose connection if its intermittant. Perhaps the bulb is actually going off/on, have you tried re-seating them to see if it goes away.
