Featured Replies

Just wondered how much you guys have paid for a Air con re-gas?

About £40 IIRC.

Ive just paid £45..... From Kwik fit!!!!!!! never thought id go there but £45 is quite cheap. Surely to god they cant mess up an air con re-gas can they??

Out of curiosity, how cold should the aircon get if you demand the lowest temp on the climatronic? Mine gets cool after a few minutes but is far from a cold blast of air.

Maybe I need it regassed?

Cheers,

Mines constantly warm!!!!

When i got my car (About 1yr 8months ago) The Air con was very cold.

I bought a DIY top-up from Halfrauds,now nice n cool again.

How much was that???

That looks like a pretty decent product. With kwik-fit charging £39.99 for a single charge, this looks pretty competitive.

Halfrauds will apparently recharge your aircon for £10 but they simply use this product. So, I'm guessing you can expect at least 4 uses before the can is spent.

I might try it out this weekend.

Which connection do you use under the bonnet? I notice 1 just behind the rad near the a/c compressor and one by the passenger side bulkhead. I'm assuming the one near the bulkhead is the low pressure side of the system.

Hi Q are doing them for £35!!!! Guess where i am off tomorrow :D Plus with 10% military discount it makes it even better, think I will get the Mrs Polo done too.

The connection behind the radiator is the l/p ,and the one to use.:)

Topped up SWMBO,s corsa, last year, which took a few squirts to get the gauge into the green, and mine didn't need much, and my son topped up his car, that was using the bigger can with the gauge. When I went to use it last week it was empty,so just bought the smaller size,an it only took 2 squirts to get the gauge in the green, and cool air again, seems to be plenty left in the can.:)

can someone post a picture of this connection please

Arrows indicate where the connections for the aircon are. Sadly this is not my engine bay :(

Thanks guys. So does anyone know of any common problems with air con??? Which pipe is likely to have split??

Just to thread jack I got mine done at Hi Q they take all the old gas out before refilling it. It's lovely and cool in the cockpit now :D

Thanks for the pic of the connection. currently, both fans run when the air con is on, regardless if the car is just started or been running all day. The ac normally works well till the day hears up 30-35deg celsius. Then it behaves strangely. Pushing the ac button twice (turn off then turn on) seems to bring some amount of chill back into the cabin.

My fans do exactly the same thing and always have so I assume this is normal.

oh, thanks for that. but it wasnt always like that. when the car was new, only one fan would run when the ac was running. the other fan would cut in to cool the engine, now both fans are running. I'd just like a bit more confiemation please.

Both fans will probably run due to the outside air temperature being so high.

Obviously you shouldn't loose any refrigerant unless there is a leak.Would check all crimped fittings on the end of the flexi hoses as these are common places for leaks. Check all a/c pipes for any traces of oil or oil vapour as if you have a leak in the system oil escapes from the a/c pump along with the gas.

Oh and mine costs me nothing cos i do it myself.
