WRC Style Spoiler FINALLY Fitted!! What do you think?

Yella,

I think you should forward your pics to your Insurance Company and ask them. I rekon you got a discount on your policy because you have a beige car but now you have a boy racer spoiler they'll be all confused. (Oh and a little bit upset that you've added kit which may well alter the driving characteristics of your car)

Question is ... do you like it. If so, stick to your guns and be happy. The rest of us are obviously wrong.

Unfortunately the V5 says Bronze so no 'Beige Discount' here I'm afraid. Not entirely sure that that does exist though (my sarcasm monitor was going wild). It did confuse the insurers that I had a 40% power gain from a remap alone. They kept asking me to confirm it and asking if I was sure!! The spoiler didn't really bother them much at all.

The rest of you aren't wrong. I've posted it up for opinions. I like it, so do some others, the rest of you don't. It doesn't mean anyone is wrong or right. Apart from SWMBO of course. She's always right.

Ha-ha, Yes they are alway right .........Tell me, what does she think of it ????

She doesn't really care either way to be honest. She's all about practicality so it could be snot green with a luminous yellow spoiler and it would be fine as long as it did 100mpg and cost nothing to run. Looks and performance not an issue. Saying that she occasionally comes home all excited after burning off a saxo or two. I often forget that she's an advanced driver as well so people are even more surprised by the performance coming from a woman skoda driver than a male skoda driver (how sexist people are!!).

Now now Mr Baker :D. As much as I love your car, DESPITE it being beige :P, It still doesn't look sporty to my eyes. It is ONLY my opinion though.

Biege makes me think of retired people, moth balls....not a veyron.

I will get my coat then I guess..........

I am certainly not a retired person.........

(Sweeping statements maybe?)

Agreed the colour is a major difference but that is only because the Skoda released the vRS in Red / Black / Silver / Yellow / White (WRC). The General public is being told what colours should be classed as sporty, I seem to remember some on here getting their vrs sprayed porsche blue?? can't for the life of me remember their name but that too was a very bold move changing the colour to something completly different.

That was Adamhodg

In my personal opinion, and I don't think anyone has raised this point previously, it's almost like putting a Cosworth whale tail on a 1.3L Escort, but at the end of the day, if the owner likes it that's fine by me.

not at all seeing as its the same car with the same engine and the only real difference is the very subtle styling changes of the vRS, change the front bumper/wheels and lower it a tad and other than the colour driving along people wouldn't know it wasn't a vRS.

don't forget the vRS is eff-all special and just a trim :)

Odd then that you'd go to all the trouble of changing so many parts to make it look like one.

BTW - I'm not one of those who think the vRS is the be-all and end-all

To be honest if wasnt Beige/Gold it would look ok. I think it does suit the vRS, but not the elegance.

Instead of refurbing the wheels, why not go for a full on re-spray??? :)

As long as you like it thats all that matters mate.

The more mature Scooby owners, you know, the ones with the newer, better, undamaged cars who drive around with respect for other road users, are moving away from that 'look at me' image and making their cars more discrete. I had one with the big wing for 3 years and wouldn't have it on another. They do sweet FA for handling, weigh a bleeding ton and severely restrict rear visibility. I like to be able to see the driver following me to try and be sure I won't be getting myself into any trouble when I hit the loud pedal. I've always said, Scoobs are pig ugly anyway, but they lure you in like an ugly dirty whore, getting you into all sorts of exciting trouble :D They are a drivers car, and I wouldn't care if they looked like a builders skip. When you've driven a well sorted one to the extreme the feelings and satisfaction they give a mere mortal who can't afford auto-exotica is outstanding.

Well written, but i have to say that i pass a black RB320 most days on my way to work and it is simply stunning, its such a raw piece of machinery. I agree with the fact that they are very much a 'look at me' drivers car, but that's what buying into the whole Subaru experience is all about, hence why there was such an uproar when the latest model was released (incidentally looking as good as a bulldog chewing a wasp).

Getting back to the original point, Yella if you like the look of that spoiler on your car, then thats great. I can't imagine you bought a Skoda in the first place because of what other people might think, that's the beauty of the brand.

i think you should have saved your money towards some coilovers or brakes or something that wich will help as you said you want a wolf in now wolf clothes but the spoiler will do bugger all for performance infact prob slow you down top end...

it all personal preference and if you like it crack on and do whatever you want mate i just think it looks bad and its not even a wrc replica maybe the real replica may look a bit better not sure???????

all the best and do whatever you like its your car nad your money anbd its you that drives it no one else

Thing is I have already bought a Koni suspension kit and fitted bigger brakes. I've no interest in coilovers as I'm only ever on the roads and have never done a track day. I wouldn't have a clue what to do with them anyway!! The spoiler only cost £190 including spraying and fitting.

My money was spent on the brakes before the remap. At the end of the day it's a family car and everything's been done the right way round. Now the car is waiting for an exhaust and a FMIC before a stage 2 map. The spoiler and wheels are my first and only real extravagance.

Someone else mentioned the weight. It's actually incredibly light. My 2 year old certainly weighs a lot more. I nearly threw it through the roof when I picked it up because I was expecting it to be heavy!

a front bumper?

the only vRS part on my car is the front bumper and thats only on there as the original elegence bumper didn't fit over my fmic :)

visually speaking the only parts i have added or changed on ym car are the vRS front bumper, the skoda optional(not vRS, its different) rear spoiler and tinted windows, other than that its suspension/brakes/power parts that are far superior than vRS parts :)

Sorry only works on vRS's.

not true..

falkirkskodameet.jpg

i had one on my 1.6, it was a vrs look-a-like done up by my local skoda dealer and i thought it looked great.

however... the original post, that really doesnt sit well on that car.

I've never seen a picture of your car, and this thread isn't about your car, so I'm perplexed as to the relevance of your comments

The 'you' in my post wasn't referring to 'you' personally - apologies for any confusion caused - for the same reason stated above

A red vRS look-a-like is a different kettle of fish to a gold elegance though

I've no idea why he thought you were on about him/his car...:P

bengie's Octavia:

bengie.jpg

nothing wannabe-vRS about that

I don't like look-a-likes, I don't even like SEAT making the Ibiza FR look so similar to a Cupra, making the Aero pack from a Leon Cupra K1 available as an option or that Ford made the ST170 available in Imperial blue :thumbdwn:
