Why can't it work on an Elegance ??? vRS this, vRS that  ... Come on vRS brigade, get a life, the vRS is NOT the be all and end all, have some respect for someone who has decided to be different and not follow everyone else like a little lost sheep.

In my opinion the car needs lowering and some larger wheels to help carry off the spoiler, As much as I like the vRS styling it would be wrong to fit a vRS front bumper as you are obviously after more of a WRC look which the vRS just doesn't have.

If you like it, keep going with it, It's nice to see someone try something a little different.

I LIKE IT

What makes you think it's a vRS v non-vRS thing ?

I've got a vRS estate, and a life, and also, believe or not, a personal opinion. I've also owned a 130PD Elegance Estate (unmodded)

I don't feel the need to follow anybody, so please don't try to put us in one box of mindless sheep, as you try to infer.

In my personal opinion, and I don't think anyone has raised this point previously, it's almost like putting a Cosworth whale tail on a 1.3L Escort, but at the end of the day, if the owner likes it that's fine by me.

Just to emphasise what I said about the originators of the silly big wing turning their backs on them, this is a Scoobynet members Spec C Type RA-R, which is probably the best Subaru money can buy....

Spoiler-less !

Type ra's

That spoilerless Scoob just looks very wrong IMO. It should at least have a low profile spoiler a-la Spec D. No spoiler jus makes it look like a hyundai or summat.

Maybe this is why its a vRS NON vRS thing

Sorry only works on vRS's.

and other comments on it 'looking wierd on an Elegance' ' It's beige, it's an elegance, ' These are peoples opinions but the general jist is it should only be done on a vRS

And the OP's car has a 1.8t so it's hardly like fitting a Whale tail to a 1.3l Escort

Thats what I was thinking

And this !!!

The only car those spoilers should be are the rally cars, or maybe an RS500 sierra at a push but. The evo/scoob/alfa ones etc are all a bit big for my liking

Totally agree. The Subaru styling has defo gone down hill.

Well not looking to pick an argument, but IMHO I think that the general opinion of it looking better on a vRS is because in those - and my opinion it DOES look better on a vRS - could be the styling differences, the exhaust being visible in the rear bumper, the wheel style....a few key areas where the vRS already looks sporty.

Also when you see sporty cars they are usually colours like red, white, black, blue, yellow. Soft colours make the car, and it doesnt matter what the car is, not look sporty. When was the last time you saw a biege Subaru? Evo? Lambo? etc etc.

I just think it doesnt suit the car at all, and that because of the way the rest of the car looks, but primarily because of the colour.

Biege cars have a place, and i have nothing against them, but they really don't look sporty in any way.

Sorry

Well it looks like I've sparked something off here!!

Good healthy argument guys! I can understand what people are saying about the VRS but like I mentioned once the 18's are fitted there'll be very little to distinguish between the VRS and my car. I haven't got the VRS bumpers (and as a result the visible oval exhaust) and that's about it really.

My car has the same engine but is significantly more powerful than a standard VRS. It is lowered by around 35mm which I believe takes it lower than the standard VRS (I may stand corrected) and once the 18's are on they should emphasise that fact. I think to say that there is 'nothing sporty' about my car is a bit unfair as I could put up a strong argument that it's more sporty than the VRS underneath that beige exterior!!

And I don't think it's gonna be a wolf in sheep's clothing as it's kicking out more than 200bhp and 230nm torque so while not being an Evo beater I believe it has the performance to match the look. I'm sticking to my guns saying it's with a wolf in wolf's clothing. You could perhaps argue that the wolf is wearing tracksuit bottoms tucked into his socks but we're back to personal preference!!

As for the Scooby someone hit the nail on the head. Remove the badges and I would have guessed it was some sort of new Hyundai Accent from the rear. So not for me I'm afraid.

I'll post more pics when the wheels are on and we can keep arguing!

not an arguement at all , lively discussion maybe, its your car and if your happy then i'm pleased for you.

its not a vrs promo , thats why i qualified it , when its on its bigger wheels and looks more integrated it will work better.

Depends whether or not the fact it's gold can be classed as "little to distinguish between the vRS and my car". I'd say that the colour is a fairly major difference.

It's a very bold move, and I admire you for doing it - whether I like it or not is a different matter.

Personally I don't like it. Sorry! More weight, more drag, more attention, more chance of getting stolen/vandalised or stopped for speeding.

But it's your car, so I respect that.

Maybe get a subtle body kit when you put your wheels on (if there is such a thing!). Deeper bumper, deeper side skirts and a rear bumper with an exhaust cut-out maybe. You need to balance that big wing out whatever you do. For me it's the front bumper that ruins the look, it's just too weedy! It leaves the car looking half finished.

The colour doesn't really bother me. My Volvo 480ES is the same colour!

Never mind - I'm sure you can get therapy for it ;)

Flipping heck this is a discussion..............:D

Just to add my 2p, I have never been a fan of this spoiler but on some cars such as vRS_Si's and the picture of the slammed white Octavia on white wheels, I think it looks great.........

On the said car I think it just needs some more additions to make it look at home, regardless of the model or engine, etc.........

The white Impreza with no wing just looks daft and an Impreza is all about 'look at me in my Scooby', loud exhaust, noisey engine, bright colours and a big spoiler..........IMHO.

And finally for the 'Biege cars have a place, and I have nothing against them, but they really don't look sporty in any way' comment, well I guess we are all entitled to our opinion.........

Almost word for word what i was going to post.

I thought the current celica looked wrong with no spoiler, but that scooby looks possibly even worse than that!

sorry but that Scooby needs a spoiler lol, it looks silly without it

If you do decide todo something to the front end. deeper front bumper you will need to be carefull, I've been wanting todo something to the front of my car but I have decided not todo anything due to ho low it is. Mine too is lowered by 35mm which puts it lower than a standard vRS and my front bumper catches on car park ramps/ some speed bumps/ kerbs / steeply angled junctions/ ferry ramps / French Roads etc etc, if I had a vrs bumper on my car it would have been scraped badly/damaged beyond repair, due to how much lower it sits.

Keep us all posted with the next stage in your master plan :thumbup:

Big spoilers not my thing. Bigger wheels are a must to balance it out and show your suspension drop off, i dont think it looks lowered on your current wheels. Don't mind the colour had an old BMW in similar sort of shade, great for hiding the dirt.

And finally for the 'Biege cars have a place, and I have nothing against them, but they really don't look sporty in any way' comment, well I guess we are all entitled to our opinion.........

Now now Mr Baker :D. As much as I love your car, DESPITE it being beige :P, It still doesn't look sporty to my eyes. It is ONLY my opinion though.

Agreed the colour is a major difference but that is only because the Skoda released the vRS in Red / Black / Silver / Yellow / White (WRC). The General public is being told what colours should be classed as sporty, I seem to remember some on here getting their vrs sprayed porsche blue?? can't for the life of me remember their name but that too was a very bold move changing the colour to something completly different.

You can have sporty coloured cars in Beige

Bugatti Veyron

Golf GTi

VW Scirocco

Personally I don't see anything wrong with the Golf/Scirocco or the Bugatti but I have to agree the Lambo does look awfull but I think its more the styling than the colour

Edited by matt@theforce

I'll agree to disagree Matt. Yes you can have those cars in biege..... they look terrible though. Biege makes me think of retired people, moth balls....not a veyron.

It's a sign of the times I guess, there have been a few Beige Supercars & Hot Hatches over the years, admittidly most are from the 70's/80's times but as time has gone on different colours have been tried as the new sporty colours and manufacturers are playing it safe with known Red's/Blacks/Silvers/Yellows etc etc and us youngsters of the day who didn't grow up with these older colours don't tend to favour them as much.
