Lack of torque below 1500 revvs

Featured Replies

hiya guy's.

My octy ( 90bhp 1.9TDI ) has such a huge hole in the power below 1500 revvs.

Its fine in 1st, but if the revvs drop below that in any other gear its sooo slugish, even at WOT.

Do they all do that? Or does it need a good service?

Or is it because i've only had petrol cars before?

oh and just a quick question, what other turbo's bolt on?

Is it high mileage? Could be sticking vanes on the turbo (do a search on here), although IIRC the 90bhp models didn't have variable geometry turbos.

It's got bugger all torque below 1500rpm because it's not designed to be driven (well, booted from) below 1500rpm...

^ ^ righhhhhhhhht ^ ^

its done 123,000 miles:eek:

The turbo doesn't really spool up until about 1500, and it's almost lightswitch different.

yeah your right and thats what i thought, is there nothing I can do to give it a little bit more shove lower down?

Being new to diesels, I find it a very different driving style but I actually like it, the fuel economy, the stupidly low revvs to mph, and the turbo kick.

Other than the injectors from the 110 model, is there any other difference between that and the 90? (from what i can gather the turbo's the same)

I think the 110 may have a different map; it's entirely adequate for traffic driving from about 1_200 even though it's off boost.
