Octavia rear brake disc problem

Featured Replies

Hi,

I wonder can anyone help? I am trying to change the rear discs on an Octavia and have come upon a problem. The problem being, having undone the screw holding the disc in place I am unable to get it past the two 'prong' things (sorry, not technical) shown on the attached photo, to remove and replace it.

Can anyone tell me where the screw holding them in place is and what size spanner/key I will need to undo it?

Thanks.

They are the carriers and they are held on behind the disk with two bolts, not sure on the size though sorry :D

I've a notion you're supposed to unbolt the carriers from the hubs, not the calipers from the carriers? Look, my local garage only charges £25 an hour, can do the job faster than I can, and has a windback tool and screw extractors, one of which I would, and the other I might, need.

Thanks Ken, Unfortunately I don't live near your local garage, but it is now done and dusted all ok.

Thanks very much Fatty5000 (that sounds terribly rude of me) very useful and now the job is done

Cheers

Okay Jonah; all I meant was that it actually made reasonable sense for me to not do the job myself, so I haven't!
