How do you fit it ?????

Featured Replies

Well i ordered the intake off ebay and it arrived today. nice metal intake pipe with extras.

But my question is what the hell is everything for.

Intake pipe

Large Filter i understand where they go.

But i have a piece of silicone hose, smaller filter, rubber thing on a bolt a weird metal thing which i think the smaller filter fits on one end and the breather pipe on the other ???

The silicone pipe to feed from the intake to the recirc valve ???

Anyone got a step by step guide, or a dummies guide.

Thanks

First job get a new air filter, they are really bad and let quite a bit of dust through.

I agree fully here. Me and Mart have both got the ebay one and the filter is not that good. What pipercross one have you got Martin? Mine is PK7000 I think, quite a size but filters well

I got the px7000

sport air filter on eBay, also, Performance Tuning Parts, Car Tuning Styling, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 10-May-09 18:25:55 BST)

What a bargain!! I believe it is the same as yours, it came with 4 adapters but i didn't need any.

I got it because i knew you had one and it fitted, but yes it is huge!

I recently emailed pipercross about the engine power this thing could take as my mate was interested for his Vectra VXR. They said "depending on neck size, these can flow in excess of 500BHP"

So we've got some modding to do mate.

Yes thats the same as mine. Don't think I'll be pushing it that far though.....maybe 400ish :D

are you sorted mate?

Ill get a pic now

billy

mind tale it it is the same kit you on about???

Just had the other half and our baby round so it's in it box at the moment.

remove 2 X head screws from the black air box near the batt. and disconnect a small pipe between engine and box(2nd air pump)squeez and twist slightly and piull toward engine

lift off the top and unscrew 2 X head screws from the box lid to the MAF then the lid slides off easilly.

Then remove 2 10mm bolt at one on each side.

the bottom then lifts off. also 10mm bolt holds the are duct to the wing in place which needs to come off.

Remove the battary cover and battery 13mm bolt holds it in iirc

4x 10mm bolts at the battery base need to come off.

remove the big slide clip that holds a big clip. also the -ve batt wire needs moving.

Jack car up and remove the small cover under neath 2 HEX screws into the arch liner then move back toward the engine and slide out the front clip.

the pics then demonstrate where all the pipes go mate. also there should be a rubber thing wi 2 bolts on the ends, put grease on as if you need to take it off it could rust and break. ( I had to drill mine and put it in wi 1 long bolt lol.)

then tighten it all up.

good luck mate

I found it easier to manover the pipe in then put the filter on the end and bolt the bottom one in a tad then the clamp on the wing. ull get it mate.

Yer it helps.

I have some other things in the kit.

I'll get a picture

yea mate the kit is put together for diff cars older and new lol. ie the breather on older cars isnt there so the filter is there to cover it n stuff like that.

the parts you see there are the only ones you need mate aswell as the black rubber thing which goes thru a hole in the metal were the battery carrier sits, there is a few holes but youll see which one it is when you strip it all down lol. Took me 2 hr to do my first time without destructions lol, now I can remove it and put it back in 10 mins lol.

So the rubber thing, which bracket does that fit onto. is it the inner wing to the pipe ?

it goes at the bottom down by were the black clip is,

on the pipe there will be 2 U shaped brackets welded to the pipe? on the one that is closest to the end. the short section after one of the U brackets is the bit that goes down to the wing/bumper

wait one lol think I have a pic with my bumper off so you can see it lol

I dont have the radio code

When I fitted mine i did not touch the battery, although can see why it makes the job easier.

You can view the whole thread here -

I cut out this info from it.

I opted to remove the passenger headlight and the lower bumper grill to allow better access. (could also remove bumper , though a little overkill) True it is rather cramped if you try and lower the cold air pipe with filter attached. I dropped down the filter first through the headlight opening and let it rest on the bottom plastic splash guard. Then I lowered the cold air pipe to the filter and rested it down beside the battery. Then fitted the filter onto the pipe whilst holding it in place (hand through the bumper grill).

My CAI does not have the second air pump pipe, instead it came with a small filter to go straight onto the original pipe, same as yours.

Here you can see how the bumper trim is removed(bolts behind the trim) should you take off the bumper

Here you can see the air filter in place underneath the inner wing.

sorry jus if it wasnt clear, the filter wont fit down lol thats why you jace the pass side up and take the splash plate off as described. you put the pipe down and the filter up lol.

It is a lot easier if you take the battery out as it allows the pipe to move more to fit and tighten the filter. I am usin my first attempt filter lol the PX279 iirc. the filter fits nice but its metal so 2 jubilee clips are on there and some green friendly jus to be sure lol.

If I was you mate for now use the filter that came with it with 2 sets of tights latered over it lol. It worked for me and I never had any trouble with mine till I removed them. was on my car for a year or so and I jus kept removing a few layers every few month, then it started to oxidise so I threw it away. I should take the PX one off to wash it really.

thats a smart pipe there lol looks nice and neat. I like the APR? on iirc that has the 2nd air pipe off it lol looks ace. but for the money it should be.

I had to take the battery and headlight out to fit my Carbonio

If you're worried about the radio code (and it's the standard Symphony head unit) then turn it on and hold the TP button for a few seconds to go to the options menu. Scroll through the menu until you find "SAFE" (or it might be "CODE") and change that from ON to OFF. Then when the battery is disconnected and re-connected it won't ask for a code for the stereo to work again.

lol

there we go. sorted.

think mine is on but it doesnt ask fot it, when I re conected the battery it came up SAFE on the front and all I did was turn it off then on again and it said SAFE then switched and started working, every time Ive done it lol. mind I am lucky as I have the code.

have fun fitting it mate.

I checked my radio manual last night and apparently to turn the SAFE mode on or off you need to put the code in anyway - which isn't much help if you don't know it!

I think by default the SAFE mode is off as I've had my battery disconnected several times without having to put a code in when it was re-connected.

I have excact same kit.Did'nt take battery out, just carefully pushed down through-i did undo battery holder bolts and moved battery about to fit it.Just undid the wheel arch under tray to be able to put filter on.Total time less than an hour.
