Can someone give a complete idiots guide as to what you need to get to be able to use vag com on the Superb 2??

You will need a recent copy of VAG-COM and a genuine cable, either HEX+CAN or Micro-CAN.

The Micro-CAN will do both cars you mention, the HEX+CAN will do older ones as well.

Another stupid Q.. Where to connect it? Where is that socket, I looked everywhere for it... :(

Open driver's door, kneel on the ground, stick your head into the driver's footwell and look under the right-hand side of the bottom of the dashboard. You'll see a light-purple socket - that's it.

It works better on a convertible, obviously.
