when it dries i'll use a microfiber towel to clean it :P

humm - well I got through about 12 microfibres waxing lissy last night. so make sure its biiiiig or you got lots. and surely putting it on with a microfibre will be a better option also. hummm baker....

When i was using the Swissol wax it actually advised you to apply to the surface using your bare hands. I never had any problems when applying it that way.

Cheers

Dave.

ooo interesting ... I would scratch the paint with my nails tho I am sure and I aint cuttin them not even for lissy

Like Swissol - Zymol is recommended to be applied by hand.

I use Meguairs foam applicator pads to apply wax. Best way I have found an even, smooth application. This is for my collinite 476s though. I have never contemplated using my hands. I just think it would smear badly and unevenly.

Applying by hand is purely a marketing stunt and nothing more IMO by Zymol & Swissvax amongst others to use more product & then in theory buy another pot once you empty the first one.

Putting a thin layer on by foam applicator still gives you exactly the same end results but uses soooo much less product & another bonus being a thin layer is stupendously easy to buff off.

If you apply lots of product by hand you end up buffing off the excess anyway & probably clogging up the microfibre in the process so a total waste.

I use top end waxes & sealants everyday @ work & it's amazing just how little wax you need.

Remember less is more:thumbup:

no much chance with collinite if you put it on with hand. What i do is use a microfibre (the one for glass) to apply it and then use the blue microfibre clothes to remove it and unlike miss p you shouldnt need more than 3 microfibres (one to put on and two max for taking it off). But either way your hands will bead well at the end as the wax gets over your hands ;)

As Chris_Focus has said I am also confident it's a bit of a marketing stunt as I just don't see how you can get a nice thin layer applied all over the paintwork and those waxes that suggest appliaction by hand are the top marques.............can't say I have applied any wax by hand but who knows I may give it a go in the future.............

As for the comment on applying wax with a glass cleaning cloth, that sounds like hard work mate.............

the one i use is very smooth so nothing can get caught in it and is smoother than some of those applicator pads.

I'd hazard a guess that you'd end up with stubbed fingers and maybe a few cuts applying by hand alone.

Never had any probs myself in the year or so i was using Swissol.

I have applied by hand in the past on the basis that:

Body heat melts the wax so it goes on easier

You can feel any imperfections on the paint as you go along

You will be immediately aware of anything being trapped so less chance of marking.

You can't drop your hand on the floor etc etc

I doubt it improves the actual finish though other than more of a guarantee against imparting swirls.
