Featured Replies

MY FELICIA FAILED ITS MOT! OFFSIDE FRONT SHOCK, OFFSIDE FRONT SUSPENSION ARM EXCESSIVE PLAY (BALL JOINT), NEARSIDE REAR COIL SPRING FRACTURED,OFFSIDE REAR COIL SPRING FRACTURED, FRONT BREAKS IMBALANCED! ALL IN ALL A BAD MOT.......................

THE 3 SUSPENSION STRUTS I GOT FROM THE SCRAPPY FOR £60 THE BREAKS WERE £20 AND £6 ODD FOR BALL JOINT

I HOPE IT PASSES NOW!

give the front calipers a good going over aswell, copper slip all the sliders, that will help balance the front stoppers

oh dear you dont have much luck do you. Hopefully it will pass now. Although sometimes buying new bits can work out just as cheap as secondhand. So next time i would consider that.

Still , at least your car will be a bit safer now

I found sometimes the holes the sliders go into get corroded and need a nice round file to make the sliders move freely.Surprised you didn't notice though as mine only got an advisory on that and under heavy braking one wheel locked up so it was quite noticeable.

Well i got it thru the mot yey! And yes i did copper slip the callipers only problem with the bits was finding new bolts for the bushes to sit on had to grid off the old 1's coz they just wouldnt budge new bolts cost £1.20

yes happy now just gotta fix the arches now yellow car orange rust!

Mine sometimes locks up one wheel, sometimes it doesnt, im fitting new discs pads and drums soon so will strip it all down then. A cacky job :)

Glad you got through the MOT the second time and it didn't end up costing you too big a packet!

An MOT failure makes people go :eek:

Some cars will fail on something minor like a few blown bulbs.

My fav failed because of 2 ripped gaiters. Had the work done then took it back for the retest.

My Felly I had the shocks and exhaust done before taking it for MOT which cost a fair whack!

Wear and tear happens, but you'd rather be told about it and get it fixed so your car is right as rain and safe for the road.

Although it helps reading owner forums like this one and asking about common problems so you can examine these yourself if you have the time and resources.

Keep an eye on the brake pipes too.

Dont use copperslip in the caliper sliders, It will dry out with the heat, go hard and make the calipers stick. Better to use a lithium based grease or caliper slider grease available from most factors
