More 'Smug' Answers I think!

What about these Charge n' Start chargers? Surely you should leave it connected when in Start mode. Also you always leave the cables connected when you jump start someone!

You are correct as far as the "starter" manufacturer is concerned - I think that most of the professional units will have filters/spike clamps/call it what you like at the other end of the leads. Remember the OP enquired about how a DIYer using "domestic" charging equipment could avoid any damage (I think!), and most advise was offered with this in mind - but included any steps that might be helpful to avoid any damage when carrying out this task at home. On the issue with any Techs quoting, in this instance, Skoda, workship instructions, would you really expect them to first proof read the entire document - then rewrite it with their personal take on how things should be - then start quoting this re-written document - I'd think that that would not be wise - so they have not done this!
