A.M reception.

Featured Replies

Do most people suffer from poor radio reception on the A.M band in the Skoda Felicia ?,

is there a cure ?, in my car the interference is engine speed related (electronic ignition).

I have tried 2 different radio-cassette units which work fine on F.M but both really suffer

interference on A.M.

Thanks for any advice from Gerry.

Nope

Mines been fine.

Must be the aerial cable/shielding

Does this happen on quite strong stations like Talk Sport and Virgin?

Reception on A.M is poor when running at speed at say 30mph, ie rhythmitic electronic

interference even. on strong stations Talk Sport, Radio 5, Virgin ect

Thanks from Silvafelicia.

P.S RECEPTION FINE ON FM.

Damn!!! doesnt make it easy!!

I'd still point the finger at the aerial and/or the cable.

What stereo unit is in your Felicia btw?

I currently have a Kenwood 3037 unit.

Sounds like interference from your HT circuit (I assume you've got a petrol model?) Depending on the model, most likely cause is one of the HT leads breaking down. They should have suppressors built in to stop interference, but v cheap replacements or old/damaged HT leads will cause radio interference.

The model is a Felicia petrol 1.3 mpi which has a Champion branded ignition unit it has no h/t leads.

The radio cassette is made by JVC MODEL KS-F150 however I also had the same problem with the SKODA 201 R-D--S unit, you cannot belive how bad the noise is till

you try another car on A.M !! , recently hired a Seat Leon for a few days the A.M was perfect same thing on 3 year old diesel VW golf used recently.

Maybe I shall have to limit myself to the Quality F.M band !!.
