Kufatec Maxidot Addon

Featured Replies

Im sure many of you are aware of this device and that it requires you do not have a bluetooth phone kit

KUFATEC GmbH - E-MFA DIS Add-On - Display Boost, Oil, Battery 36810

Does any one actually own one of these? my guess is off the wiring harness it takes nothing more that 12V, Can Hi and Can Low

I have got the premium rsap bluetooth kit but im not satisfied with not being able to use this so im thinking about wiring up a toggle switch to allow me to switch between bluetooth and the extra information

Probably sticking the switch under the passanger seat near the bluetooth module so im not tempted to try and switch over with the ignition on, also i should be able to get the necessary connections under there.

Can any one see any problems i might have with this or if indeed it would be possible to switch between two devices with the car running? im guessing the CAN bus is nothing more than glorified RS485?

Cheers,

Dan

Don't know much about the technicals on CAN but I personally wouldn't switch anything with the ignition on. Do you know if it shows actual or requested boost?

i think one of the german guys on here has it but cant remember his id sorry

Me? :D

Have one, but dont have the factory installed bluetooth thingy.

As far as I understand, the EMFA will take the place of the handsfree kit. That is also why they wont be able to be installed both.

I dont know a thing about CAN, so I cannot tell you whether it will be possible to connect either the handsfree kit or the EMFA by a toggle switch.

Might give some interesting fault codes.....

Logically you should be able to connect either of the two. But I would wait for the CAN BUS to disconnect (Sebastian calls it "busruhe" in German, dont know how to translate that) before switching.

CAN doesn't shut down until 20 minutes after the car is locked/ignition off IIRC. And then if you open a door or unlock it, it wakes up again :)

I didnt know it took 20 mins for the canbus to die, it surprises me as you dont get faults logged from switching headunits over that dont require coding

I think Kufatec sell that unit with bluetooth also. I think bost won't work on the TFSI only the TDI.

There is a bluetooth device sold by Kufatec called Fiscon. Here the EMFA is integrated in the handsfree device.

Boost will only work on 140 TDI-PDs (afaik), but not on the T(F)SI or 170 TDI PD as well as CR. It will work on the pre (works)update 1.8 TSI, but no more on the updated version.
