internal light problem

Featured Replies

Hi everyone my first post whoop whoop lol.ive got vrs octavia mk1 51 plate.ive got a problem with the internal light when i open the drivers door the internal light doesnt come on but whenn i open the other three doors the light comes on ok does anyone what problem is ?and how much to fix? cheers guys.

Door switch, most likely. They're a bit fiddly, as I understand it, although I shouldn't think the switch itself would be that dear. Don't have a Haynes to hand to give you an idea of labour times, I'm afraid...

:agree: - it wants sorting soonish though, because that switch is an input to the auto open/close on the windows and sunroof, and to the auto-relock functions.

hi cheers guys how much do you reckon it will be to get fixed in garage as a fair estimate thx

At a garage, they will just replace the lock, complete with the switch, and I was quoted ~£70 for the parts alone.

I understand that if you are competent at getting the lock out of the door, it is possible to replace the microswitch with a new one from Maplins. (I haven't had the time to have a look at this as yet, but intend doing so at some point.)

I have the same problem . Skoda dealers want 220 eur + labor to replace the whole door lock mechanism which is not needed.

What you have to do is take apart the door panels till you reach the lock at the point where it locks against the car frame. There are 2 metalic levels. One of them needs to be repositioned. Easy job if you know what you are doing...

I got all the way thru but i stoped at that point i had to mess with the 2 metalic @#%$$@!. I did not know how to proceed.

its a funny one this ive noticed the rear drivers side light comes on if opened from inside but doesnt if opened fron the outside weird or what

i had mine replaced today finally

my mechanic took apart the whole mechanism and tried to fix the broken part. It is a tiny switch that goes bad and causes all the kinds of problems we have. The rest of the unit is functiong fine. After 4h of trying to fix the switch ; even replaced it with another one that thing refused to work. So today we installed a used lock unit. Total price plus labor = 140 eur

skoda dealers quoted us 250 eur for a new lock and 80 for labor :P
