Replcae n/s fog light glass

Featured Replies

Looks like some road debris has smashed the glass in my n/s front foglight on the vrs.

Anyone got any guides on how to get the unit out and replace the glass? Any ideas or recommendations on getting the spare part?

Advice much appreciated folks.

FYI: the car is a mk2 vrs

Hi, as far as spare parts go, the foglight comes as a complete unit from the dealer, or luckily someone is selling a N/S fog lamp on ebay at the moment skoda octavia rs fog light on eBay, also, Skoda, Car Parts, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 15-Jun-09 18:10:24 BST)

The slightly bad news is to replace the foglights involves removing the front bumper as the foglight unit is screwed in from behind. Have a look at this thread for a decent write up on how to do it http://briskoda.net/octavia-ii/mkii-octy-vrs-front-bumper/107962/

I'm bidding on that one on eBay :)

Yeah looks like I'll take it to my local to do that. I don't fancy taking the whole front to bits for this job. I don't have the time to do it and they will be quicker than me.

Spoke with the local too and you can only get the foglights as a complete unit. Sad you can't get the glass separately or protective covers.

Thanks for the link

I had similar problems on my old Clio 182. I'd always be finding broken foglights on the front bumper, as they seemed to be in quite a precarious position.

Some 182 owners got so fed up with it, that they converted the foglight holes into cold air feeds for either the engine or brakes.

It seems to be a similar issue with changing them too. I wonder if you had small hands or knew someone with small hands, if you unclip the wheel arch liner, if you can reach into the front bumper area and unbolt the foglamp without removing the bumper at all? Might be worth a try?
