Drivers seat drops

Featured Replies

I have a 04 L&K octavia estate and my driver seat seems to drop each day,I have to use the height adjusment handle to get back to the full height about 3 or 4 pumps is there any way to stop this please the passenger seat is fine...

Thank you

ferjan

Are you sure you're not catching your leg on the handle when you get in and hence lowering the seat each time until you notice it's too low?

ive notice this and thought it might be the height lever being knocked.

If it's the manual one it's a ratchet mechanism and it's very unlikely to fail. Accidental tripping might be a better explanation.

No not knocking it when I get in it will even drop a bit while I am driving it have to keep pumping it up.

Sorry did not know if it is a MK1 or MK2 my mistake hi.

In that case it sounds like the ratchet mechanism's failed in some way.

The system is similar in both Octy versions ;)

As said it's a rachet system, so if it's dropping then the mechanism must be damaged and the vibration of driving is causing a drop.

This happens to mine too - MkII Octavia. When SWMBO has been in it & I have to lower the seat it drops right down after 3-4 pulls on the lever & then I have to pump it right up again until have found the best position.(OOOEEERRR MATRON!!) Doesn't feel as though it's going to drop while I'm driving - will ask the dealer about it at next service.

Thanks for all the reply's, glad to see I'm not the only one with a droping seat hi...

I will ask the local dealer when I go and see him see what he says and if it's a safety hazard....I will report later.

Cheers.

Mine does this too, but its usually <2 pumps to get it back up.

Also interested to see the number of people who drive with it at full height - I do too, but SWMBO likes it set as low as it'll go!
