rear washer leaking into footwell

Featured Replies

my rear window this morning was dirty so i used the rear washer but only a little water came out,so i tested it a few times still nothing.the front windscreen worked fine so i thought it was blocked somewhere.

i got to work and just as i was getting out i noticed water in the foot well near the pedals and my trainers were wet.

i tested the rear washer again and a mini waterfall came from the back of the dash.

has this happened to anyone else ?

ps i use skoda/vw windscreen wash

there has been another post about this, cant find it right now, but the problem is rubbish pipes, back to the dealer!

Sounds like it's inherited the same issues as the Mk1, although the pipe connectors might be in a different place if you're getting water in the FRONT footwells from behind the dash. Definitely the sort of thing your warranty's for!

it's going to the dealers in 2 week on fridays.is it a big job and how long will it take ?

thanks

Can't say I'm afraid, as behind the dash is one of the few places the Mk I Fabia washer pipework DOESN'T leak from, and I don't have any experience of the Mk II...

Hi. had the same prob just 1 week after getting my car and was initially told by Ingram Skoda in Ayr it was a dash out job......not good I thought. However, they asked Skoda UK for permission to modify the pipe to avoid taking out the dash as it is indeed a huge job. Took them 2 wks to give the ok but job was done in a day by Ingrams. No probs since. Hope this helps.

took it in today ,the garage has confirmed it was a split water pipe.they didn't have the part in stock so i'm going back in 2 weeks to have it fixed.

You have to laugh at these designers don't you.

Design meeting Fabia2----

Skoda Geek 1. "do you remember those leaking washer pipes on the Mk1 at the rear?"

Skoda Geek 2. " Yes that was a bad design, we should do something better on the Mk2.

Skoda Geek 1. " Yes, we'll cure that so it does not happen again"

Skoda Geek 2. " But just to keep our service techs employed we'll design in leaking pipes inside the dash"

Skoda Geek 1. " Thats a great idea No2. We'll keep them on their toes and possibly cause more mayhem when the water gets into the electrics"

Skoda Geek 2 "Sorted"

i'm not paying for it,so i don't care about the design team or skoda's pocket.if it was out of warranty i'll be hiring a hitman !

Guys

Same issue with Octavia MK2 rear wash wipe. Washer pipe run through the rubber shroud on the C piller going to the tailgate - pipe split, end result tail gate full of water. The pipe feeding jet was very ridgid I have seem more flex in 2.5mm twin and earth cable.

Regards

paul.

morning friends, unfortunatly the rear washer pipe enters the car and runs next to the wirring loom across the front of the dash, Dash removal is the only way. We do the job in about 3/4 day, its not a hard job just a fidly one. The prob is it is totaly bound in to the wirring loom so can be a bit tricky to find. Thank GOD for warranty

The rear wash pipe also used to break away from the rear of the Merc A classes. This required a strip down of all the rear door panels and also took a days labour to rectify. Poor / easy method design is the norm.

I had the same problem, took it back to Griffin Mill in Ponty and they did the job under warranty in about 4 hours.

i took my car in Tuesday afternoon and it should be ready for Thursday.

If washer pipe became dislodged inside rear tailgate panel, (like mine did) , its removal, relocating pipe to nozzle and replacing panel, is a DIY, did mine myself, labour charge 'FREE'

Rear panel extremely difficult to prise free from tail-gate, as securing clips do put up quite a fight to remove from their position.

Good-luck.
