Saw a young lad on a scrabler the other day on the A605.

He road the white line over taking everything, and only just missed slamming into the side of a lorry that was signalling to turn right.

NOW you see him

And lorries so close to the one in front. No wonder most lorry accidents kill the driver.

This is really funny - after reading so many posts on the British Expats forum saying how bad NZ drivers are and implying that British drivers are so much better :D

In my experience NZ drivers are generally impatient, lazy and largely oblivious of other road users, and like to tailgate and use inappropriate speed.

But when I came back to the UK last year and did a fair bit of driving I realised drivers are just as bad everywhere.

Monday morning 05.40 I joined the M40 from the M25 northbound, a lorry is in the 2nd lane about 1/2 mile ahead. The inside lane is empty so I stay in it, as I approach the lorry he doesn't move over, so I move out to lane three (four lane stretch of road) to pass him. As I get to the back of his truck the driver opens his window and throws out a banana skin! I pass him, indicate and move back to lane one.

As far as I know his still driving in lane two with lane one empty whilst littering the country as he goes.:rotz:

And this, ah, self-abuser would claim to be a professional driver, on the basis that he's passed a vocational driving test, and gets given money specifically for driving!

The thing is, I don't drive like an old man. I do however adjust my driving behaviour to suit the situation I am in at any given time.

Which the most sensible thing to do. :)

i think most lorry accidents kill the driver because of the zero safety aids in a wagon, that and the fact about 99% never wear a seatbelt

That and after the 8" infront of you, there's no crash protection unlike a car.
