Only One Key - Any Help?

Featured Replies

OK, I collected my Octavia II today only to be given 1 key!

Having read a few posts on here what i think i need to do is get a SKC code from Skoda. Then is it possible to get a fob and key cut off ebay and get some one with VAGCOM to program the key to my car?

If my theory is correct is there any one near chorley with vagcom who could program me a key?

Thanks

Be careful, it is very strange not to receive the spare key, especially if you have not been informed prior to the sales. Did you buy the car at a dealer?

Thats correct, however you need to buy a brand new fob. For the octy2 used ones are locked once they are programmed and cannot be redone. Do not buy a used one from ebay you will never get it to work with the car.

I would go back to the dealer if you bought it at one and get them to sort it for you though. Cost to them is likely to be peanuts compared to what you will pay for one and what you paid for the car.

Thanks for the help Constant and Mannyo, Car was bought of a non skoda dealer. I have located the paper work from the Lease company and it only shows one key on the handover from the 1st company owner.

Thanks for the tip mannyo!

You won't get a SKC from Skoda. Your options are to either get your Skoda dealer to get a key and program it (you could ask the dealer whom you prchased the car from for a contribution), or see what your local key cutting place can do with regard to supplying a key and duplicating the code from your current one to the new one.

You need to have a key cut with a brand new transponder. There are several tools out there that can retrieve your SKC and a local specialist may have them. Where are you located?

Hi Shark_90 - I'm located in Chorley, Lancs.

Got the prices from Skoda - £35 for programming, + £55.08 for a solid key and £104.09 for a remote key.

Any one know any local specialists round Lancashire? As you can pick up a wireless key new of ebay cheap.

Cheers!
