Leather Retrim in VRS

Featured Replies

I'm a proud owner of an 04 plate VRS I've owned from new. I've used it as a bit of a work horse with roof bars fitted from new. I've had bikes and surf boards on the roof. I've had bikes and surf boards inside the car. My seats are stained with sex wax and bike oil and it's time for a retrim.

I'm currently spending lots on sprucing up my old car rather than trading it in for a new model. I'm getting it machine polished to clean up all the small scratches. I'm getting the one dent I have in the roof fixed and resprayed. I'm getting the alloys refurbished. I'm getting a new parcel shefl (it's broken), new floor mats (they're worn out), 4 new tyres (they are all on the cusp of illegality). I'm getting the roof bars removed to make it feel like a sports car again. And of course topping that all off with a professional valet.

So, I'm now looking into retrimming in leather and have been doing some research on this forum. Seat Surgeons seems like a popular choice of place to go and I see they have Seat Surgeons South which is not too far away from me. All looking good.

The question is trim: what should I go for? My Furby is black, so I'm thinking simple pure leather black throughout. No coloured piping. I went and had a sit inside the new Audi A3 Black Edition this weekend and it looks stunning in all black interior. I think I could achieve something similiar with my Furby.

Can I get the VRS logo embroidered in black, rather than the black and green that is there now?

Also, should I get all the door cards done in leather? Would that look right?

Any advice would be appreciated!!! Anyone got pictures of an existing full black retrim from Seat Surgeons in a Furby would be awesome too.

Cheers!

I posted a thread nearly 2 years ago "...leathered" with photos. See my signature for details of my Seat Surgeons retrim. I'm still very happy and covered over 40k miles since retrim. Must go for door cards to complete the look.

I organised a Group Buy at Seat Surgeons (York) last year.

I grouped toether all of the leather pics I could find - have a look at posts 10,11 and 12 in http://briskoda.net/group-buys-promotions/seat-surgeons-group-buy/125432/

I think there are a few pics of an all black one in the midle of that little lot.

Oh - and door cards are usually included in the Seat Surgeons price - I think they finish the job off very well

REALLY like this look.

I just mailed Seat Surgeons South and was quoted £850+VAT for that. What do you guys think?

Also, I'm wondering about getting the VRS embroidered on in black rather than in the traditional colours. Any comments?

Cheers

As you're in Yorkshire why not contact Seat Surgeons? They must be taking off loads of seat covers when they refurbish and you might be able to pick up a second hand one free or at least very cheap if you ask them for cast offs?

Just a thought.

I'd consider a monochrome version of the logo in shades of grey/black.

Excuse the very quick and very poor quality photochop, but something like...

Go and see Paul, he's sound as a pound, and likes the colour green if you catch my drift:rofl:

He will do you a deal, for defo as he's done loads, and has loads of different Fabia pictures too so you can choose what you want!!

I had full black nappa with green stitching and I still love it to this day!

You will not be dissapointed!

Not bad but something inside me still prefers the very subtle idea of all black. I think if I'm going to break up the black I'll do it with the original badge as the pics you originally pointed me at show.

But I think all back with VRS embroidered would look sleek.

Paul is the Seat Surgeons York guy and isn't directly associated with Seat Surgeons South. When andy2407 arranged the Winter 2008 group buy Seat Surgeons South didn't match the same price for the Fabia as what Paul in York did.

I know it's a long trek but Paul & Co are fantastic people and will not let you down. I don't think I've read a single bad comment on here about Seat Surgeons and I would wholeheartedly recommend them all over again. :)

Interesting. So I got an email from Paul Bird in SSS. Is that a different Paul to the one you all rave about in Leeds?

It is a LONG way up there from here in Sunny Sussex by the Sea but I'm happy to make the trip if they come so highly recommended and especially if it saves me some cash overall!

The Paul at York is called Paul Hewitt.

If you want I can PM you some extra contact information for him so you can find out a price off him. I'll do that now actually.

SE leather interior ocasionally pops up on ebay, keep your eyes peeled

SE has the blue trim though - maybe OK with black or silver Fabias but certainly not with red or yellow IMHO. And you don't get door cards either

Has anyone on this forum actually used Seat Surgeons South for a retrim? I don't mind paying a little extra if the quality is good as it's a LOT closer for me than going to York...

You didn't get a really good price from Paul @ SS York then? :(

Actually he never replied at all. Maybe they're busy right now. I didn't email him directly I used the email address on their web site. Maybe I'll follow up with an email to him directly.

Still interested to know if anyone has used SS South and what their experiences are all the same!

I'd advise that a phone call to Paul yields the best results ;)

Is he open to negotiation ?? I would love a retrim but just cant afford 900 odd quid

If you don't ask you don't get.

As Ed says, pick up the phone and talk to Paul.

And avoid credit cards / cheques ;)
