Maybe, just maybe?

Featured Replies

I know what you'll all say, but seeng as I know nothing about them I need your opinions on something.

I had a dabble with a Celica which was badged GT-4 and did very well. The car had the scoop in the bonet and looked the part. The driver gave me the thumbs up after and seemed impressed. We went up a slip road and staying within the legal limits of course..... I got round him - just - and then eased off. However, I seem to remember that they were about 240bhp and had a reputation 'in the day'. Possible or not? I know that some of you will have more experience of this model than me and would value your views - non abusive if possible.:D

p.s. I have a remap quoted at around 210bhp. I was on my own, he had a passenger and from what I could tell was giving as good as he got.;)

It could be dying by now as they are old cars.

Lost a few ponies maybe ???

More like 200 standard, unless it was a Carlos Saintz, and ISTR even they only had 210.

Lost a few ponies? Maybe as there was a trace of smoke from his exhaust. I have been on Pistonheads and it looked like the GT-4 cars on there, so I reckon it was poorly.

So are the big BHP figures from imports then?

Was it the ST-205 with the round headlights?

If so it should be 240 as standard, most of them have been played with and are pushing around 300 though.

if they had a bit more room in the boot they would have been on my list of suitable 4x4 fun cars for work :thumbup: the engines are superb (when they dont break) and like the VAG uinits are capable of very big numbers

An original Carlos Sianz would be nice as they were the best handling. the newer more powerful motors are a bit heavier as well. and I have a sad affinity for popup lamps :D:D:D

I would've liked an ST-205 but they were about £7000 when I was in the market for a car and were more expensive to insure and run than a VAG car :thumbdwn:

It looked like this one (pinched from Pistonheads),

The more I read up on them there is no way a remapped Octavia should have done as well as I did. It must have been a replica or some lesser model with the GT-4 bits added on.:o
