Thieving B*****ds

Featured Replies

I Just noticed when looking at the car from a distance, that all the metal covers on the air values have been stolen, Arghhhhh im like wtf is wrong with people that they need to start stealing caps!. Sorry if its sounds like a rant, but stuff like this drives me mad.

Any one know how much replacements from skoda would cost?

Kids!

They steal them for their bikes...

Personally I wouldn't bother putting metal caps back on because unfortunately the same thing will happen!

I think it's Richbrook who do some anti-theft ones, about 10-15 quid I think!

You're better off without them anyway, as they tend to corrode on to the valves.

ive just gone out to get some with a key, with out the key they just spin. Still the point as why i should have to go a buy some when lazy gits or kids just steel them.

They will also go, the anti theft ones are easy to remove even though you think they are not. I gave up after having 3 sets using different security methods nicked. Now on standard black and have had these on for yonks.

Its the way of (this sad) world. :( I'd stick to standard black plastic caps.;)

What about plastic ones sprayed silver for looks?

They have done you a favour, ended up having to have all four valves replaced from corroded metal dust caps :(

They'd get nicked too?

I had some nice steel ones with a Skoda badge on the top on my Octavia that I swapped onto my Superb when I bought it, but they didn't last long long on the new car until they were nicked!

Thieving f'ing buggers!

Same thing happened to my car just last night, noticed it this morning. Thinking it must have been nicked at the work car park. Why? Why? Why to scummy buggers find it necessary to bring everyone down to their level? All I want is a nice car to be proud of, but no the scum can't even let you have that.

I'm with Amity on this one-I want my car to look good. It came with the nice dustcaps and looks good with them on. Why should I have to comprimise because of thieving scum.

God help them if I spot their car wearing my caps in the car park in the future.

Grr

Does anyone know if Skoda do any tamper proof caps? I will be replacing them at some point.

Wonder if its possible to run an electric current through the metal caps to give the scum a shock next time?

In fact, that could be a topic in itself - What inventive security measures would you put on your Skoda to keep the scummy hoards off it?

Thank you and

*RANT OVER*:)

You can get the metal caps from BMW for about £1.20 for four (cheapest BMW bits you will ever get!)

I have not had a problem with them corroding, but have had at least one set nicked. I just make sure I screw them on tight.

i tried to go back to skoda to order a set back for the tyres. Got told they dont have them as the tyre fitters do that and they dont have valves either. I was shocked when i was told that.

so basicly once they gone you wont find another set. unless somone in the know can order some?

minty was that on your le rs they nicked them from?

These are only £6 Chrome Tyre Valve Caps

I think they look quite good but are more flashy than ordinary black plastic ones so may be more likeley to get nicked.

I have replaced mine with 99p black ones from Motor World, believe me after 10 mins you will not notice the difference.

If my wheels weren't so filthy I would send you a pic !!

I'll get you some - just show me a car with them on......................... kidding, I hate this country because of low-lifes like that!! :D

I use pressure guard caps. Great little gizmos.

Happened to me on my old Megane, which had metal ones for the pressure sensor valve thingies. Just put on the plastic ones from my stash of old mountain biking stuff - couldn't see them when I was inside the car! ;)

I used to have a set of nice chrome valve caps on my previous car, but they got nicked (10 or so years ago, so it is nothing new). I prefer to have metal caps with a good seal (in case the valve has a slow leak), so now I buy black metal ones (just cheapies from an auto accessory place), no-one notices them so they don't get nicked. I've never had a metal cap corrode onto the valve stem (but we get less rain and no salt here in Oz).

I've had loads go, even the anti-theft ones, so gave up in the end.

When I had a new tyre fitted at Costco they used nitrogen to inflate it and fitted a green plastic valve cap on the new valve. I presume that they use green to indicate it was inflated with nitrogen. Whilst chrome and branded ones look smart at least the green would match that in Skoda's logo.

Did you know, that the valve caps on an RAF c130 hercules aircraft, are the same size as those on a car...you learn something new every day :D

I wonder how often they get nicked :D
