Main Dealer Courtesy Car Costs

Featured Replies

Just wondering how much Main Dealers charge for usage of a Courtesy Car while servicing or attending to warranty issues?

Our local Skoda dealer charges 50p per mile inc fuel...

Thats a rip off, you can hire a car for that if you do 80 miles per day, i thought courtesy cars were free,

I've never paid :)

mine was free. had to pay for fuel myself and £10 to lower the excess from £1000 to £200

as above we charge a voluntary £10 for insurance and if it comes back with no fuel in it we charge 50p per mile, just keep it topped up lol.

but if its a big warranty issue i.e, car off the road parts on back order or whatever then generally the warranty company should sort you out with a rental for avis or whatever.

Just had one for 3 weeks, didn't cost me a penny. Insurance excess was £500.

It was a brand new fabia greenline with only 10 miles on the clock. I had to pay for the fuel, which was fair enough. It was given to me with only 10 miles worth left in it, i gave it back with 10 miles left in it . Any less and they would have charged me 25p per mile.

Capitol used to keep their cars brimmed, so you just brimmed them back up, easy :)

Cheap-skate dealers trying to get free fuel otherwise!

My dealer doesnt charge at all. I have never paid anything for use of a courtesy car from them.

The dealer in Marbella who did some work on my octy last week charged me €25 for the use of the courtesy car with a 100km limit.

No charge whatsoever.

just bring it back with same level of fuel.

If they are charging you ...........go somewhere else if you can.

I always phone for a quote and compare it with other local dealers as they don't all charge the same rates for labour.

From your location i think i can guess where you are talking about - and i have spoken to the service manager there about it.

It's not something they wanted to do, but the insurance costs and people refusing (yes people were refusing) to top up the fuel meant that they had to have a rethink.

It's not something i've ever really approved of, and i have to go out my way to find my own transport when the car is in for work - but the service there more than warrants this small niggle.

When my wife's Audi was in for some warranty work (at Audi, obviously), she got a top of the range A6 free of charge with no requirement to put fuel in! How different things can be :)

PM me if you want to confirm we are talking about the same dealer -

Ta,

MPM :D
