Brooklyn Skoda Closed Down?!

Featured Replies

Went to Brooklyn Skoda in Rugby today to see if they had any ARB bushes and to my astonishment it appears to have closed down! Doors shut, signs taken off and everything! :(:thumbdwn:

Looks like another dealer has gone up sh-itter!

There were no re-location signs or anything.

I'm sure a member on here DuffvRS (or something similar) worked there, hope he got a good reduncy package!!!

Brooklyn gave up on Skoda a while back. Apparently Brooklyn Ford has been bought by Bristol Street Motors, so they may have been in trouble.

Brooklyn went into liquidation last Friday.

My next door neighbour used to work for them. First news was released to them on Thursday afternoon.

Vertu Motors, who own Bristol Street, bought Worcester Ford, Reddich Ford, Cheltenham Mazda, Reddich Mazda and a repair workshop for Iveco in Redditch.

2 of the other Ford Garages in Malvern and Kidderminster, have been bought back by another company owned by the MD.

All 4 Toyota Franchises, and the Skoda franchise in Reddich have been closed down - on Saturday morning there was a queue of transporters at the local Toyota site removing cars.

Hi to all

Yes it is true that Brooklyn Skoda Rugby has gone in to liquidation on Friday 26th June 2009, for your information no one was paid a single penny.

Over the past 6 years we have had many customers who are pleased in what we do for them these are the people that i feel sorry for.

Who knows what the future will hold for Skoda in Rugby but I will keep you all informed should things change So watch this space as they say.

All of the team at Brooklyn would like to thank all of our customers for there support.

Brooklyn Rugby were the best Skoda dealer I'd used. Took my Superb to 3 different Skoda dealers before settling with Brooklyn. They resolved problems the other dealers couldn't.

Sorry to hear the news :(

Went to Rugby today to book my Superb in for a service. Very sad to see a helpful and friendly dealership go. Where should I go now? I trusted these guys, you can't say that about many main dealers!!!:confused:

Please check your PM's

i live in Rugby and again was sad to see Brooklyn closed:(

i bought my 2005 Octavia Elegance Estate from them brand new in March 2005 and they couldn't have been more helpful.

they even loaned me a Brand new Fabia whilst they got my car in and PDi'd as i was without transport

Not many dealers left like them

I was considering buying a used Fabia from them for my partner but alas they are now gone

I hope no one got caught with deposits and don't have a car to show for their cash

Thanks Dave,

I couldn't believe it when i saw it was closed. Hope you get a job sorted out and everything turns out ok. If you could keep me in the loop as to where we can go to get services/parts from round that area it would be great.

So sad to here that Brooklyn Skoda has gone.I bought my 02 Octavia TDI from them in Feb 2003 and haven't had anything seriously wrong with this car. Still got the original Exhaust & only 67k on the clock. Not bad considering it had 16K on the clock when I bought it.

Now where to go in the Rugby area to get serviced? Stanbridge Motor's have been looking after my Octavia since it needed an MOT and have been pleased with the work of Carl & Andy and team. Stanbridge Motors Rugby Car Servcice and MOT Garage Telephone 01788 576456

As a foot note there was a red Fabia Estate parked by the workshops last Thursday, hope someone hasn't put their keys thru the letter box, as far as I can see there are no signs saying the business has ceased.

My Octavia Faults:

1. Oil Pump seal failed @ 3yrs old - warranty replacement

2. Brake pedal sender unit failed @ 4 yrs

3. Large chip in windscreen, replaced

4. Aircon recharged

5. 6 tyres over the years.

Fully serviced with cambelt change at 5yrs

NO way !! i only bought my Octavia just over a month ago ! made a special trip to rugby as i had been recommended to go there and Alan in sales was brilliant ! hope my deal swapping my awful Toyota Auris didnt send them into the red !! (i doubt it)

I found out today as i realised i dont have a service book, anyone know how i can go about getting one !

Real shame !! if you can make money out of a skoda dealership then there must be loads of other car dealers on the edge !

DAVE !! start up a dealership and im sure you will get business ! as all the other Skoda dealers i went to near by were crap !!!

That explains why I cant get them on the phone then

Gutted, not a bad word to say about them, always cheery, very helpful, great service.

Especially liked the lo-cut tops on their front of desk lady

My sympathies to all the people who worked there and their families as I know how tight times are right now.

All the best to them all whatever they find to do next.

JD (blue mk2 vRS - just MOT'd there a couple of weeks ago)

its a shame one of the better dealers has had to close! i havent heard a bad word said about them. thanks for the link Steve, i will probably use them from now on.

I could not believe the news myself when I recieved a text from a college who used to work there, explains why they decided not to keep me on, gutted as everyone was so helpful and friendly and I wish them all good luck!

i think the lady in the low cut was Debbie Salisbury, very sought after!! a little ace.

Had only just started using Brooklyn Skoda in Rugby as they were so very helpful and trustworthy - unlike my local dealership. I am really gutted. If ever there was a service dealership you could trust, this was it. If Dave, the Service Manager, does hear of any changes ( or can recommend somewhere) I would be very grateful. I just wish all the staff all the very best - they deserve something better.

Any idea who?

very disappointed by this news. My roomster was purchased from another dealer but i found brooklyn to be far more helpful than the original dealer. Don't think i have any choice but to go back to them now . Unless the service has improved I may switch to someone else.

Had some warranty work done by Brooklyn Rugby - and a few other things ( like washer pipes off ) - done with no thought for reward or payment - great place.

But Rugby has more than it's share of woes recently - a large rail contractor has pulled out (thanks to Network Rail ) so perhaps the town is suffering from the recession and greed by local transport moguls .

The large rail contractor may well have been working on the West Coast Mainline upgrade work at Rugby, there's been an enormous amount of work there to raise the line speed through the station from 65mph to allow trains pass through the platforms at up to 125mph.

So if they've completed their work there, then needless to say they'll be moving on to the next contract.
