Installing rear speakers

Featured Replies

I had a look at the wiring loom that plugs into the stereo and now i know which my rear ones are.

But how do I connect them up?

1 - Are there wires in the main car ISO loom that need connecting?

2- Or do I snip the wires from the loom in the stereo adapter harness?

Right now I have a Kenwood stereo so its plugged like

Stereo>>>Adapter Harness>>>Car ISO

Not sure about the favorit but in the felicia there are two wires behind the fron kick panels by the doors that are for the rear speakers. Obviously you had the estate these would be connected up to the rear speakers.

I dont think I had these in my Felicia so they prob won't be in the Fav

Ah right. Well no idea if the wires go anywhere from the wiring harness. It would possibly be just easier to chop into the harness perhaps with some little clippy blue things that don't actually cut the wire (no idea what their called!) then run your own wires from there to the back.

Thats what my Dad suggested!!! little clippy things.

I have run the wires but its the connecting them which has left me scratching my head

That's the one... It was on the tip of my tongue but couldn't quite remember it!

You need to see if the wires from the stereo end of the loom actually have a wire in the cars loom to attach to. the rear speaker wires on the kenwood loom should be green and purple, with the negative of each having a black stripe on. match the plug up to the one in the car. if the green and purple ones dont have any wiring on the car end, then i suggest you use the scotchlocks, and feed your own wire to the speakers. you could snip them, but you may want to keep the kenwood loom intact in case you change it to a different car in the future...
