Has someone been mucking about with that , by the way? If its a G reg , it should have Europa bumpers and upright lights?? I think some of the later 1200s still had blade bumpers , I cant remember them having sloping lights and 6V electrics? Mind you , its been a while since I had my Bug and got all the mags ect.

They switched from sloping to upright in 67 / 68 so I think it could is okay. However it does have towel rail bumpers which I understand was only for the american market.

Actually its a big window bug, which means upright headlights and ugly bumpers. Many beetles have been modded to look older.
