this is how much mk2 one can buy for £270,a bit of surface rust on some panals, but mechanically sweet came all the way back from wales without missing a beat, get ready for a full on project here:D

Looks like you have some work ahead of you. Sounded like a good price though.

Nice one Gary!

So much potential, Which route you going with this one, Or is it a secret?

Are the sides really as straight as they appear?

there is barely a ding on the whole body, spare wheel well looks brand new, needs welding at the front just behind the arches, but i think a solution to that has just presented itself with a guy off edition offering me a solid shell prepped ready for paint for £150,it has a recon gearbox in it and the engine pulls like a train,no flat spots at all,and allthough the engine was very dirty its not leaking any oil at all,tbh i was looking for a much straighter example than this, and looking for a second 16v engine to re build and run on itb's they were going for between 200-250 quid, this way i get a whole car for what i was going to pay for an engine:D i could break this car for way more than £270,it was up originally for £795,then dropped to £500,i turned up and beat him down a little i think its a bit of a bargain,as for what direction its going in,it will be in the body shop soon, then i will be stripping it, caging it,re building the engine and driving it like i stole it,oh and getting rid of those wheels as soon as possible

Change your sig Gary! :P

I wonder if the reg means anything towards then engine code ;) could be fun that

:iagree:

gotta stick the right engine in it

Looks awesome for the money, have fun.

just bought a mint interior now, thinking about a change in engine as the new shell i'm buying is kinda a bit more than a shell all it needs is an engine, interior and 2 front wings plus painting, seems i might be able to fit an engine conversion into my tight budget:D..........but which one? g60? vr6? 20vt? descisions descisions

Want a roll cage?

;)

Detailing World

I hope you bought this interior.

wouldn't mind one of those 20vt's you have laid about your place, but the call of the g60 is strong

I could help you out there ;)

I've got a late Corrado interior (including dash) which will fit into a MK II quite nicely and is decent condition....

It was my pleasure Gary!

I still can't believe for that price it got you home! haha.

At least the engine seems to have kept practically all its ponies! :D

I agree with John.... BAM all the way :P It has to be done!

I could help you out there ;)

and if you want some extra oomph there's a GT30 just sat in our living room at the moment, although someone would probably notice it was missing...eventually

probably be a little too much in a mk2 tho in reality,i would imagine a standard 225 tt lump would be more than enough......or maybe just a little re map:D

i was reading a thread last night of some american idiots building a mk4 golf drag car with a 1.8T(still at 1.8) running 812WHP and 511WLBFT revving to 9300rpm
