Estate any noisier than hatch?

Featured Replies

I'm considering changing my 56 plate vrs hatchback for a new vrs estate. Is the road noise in the estate any worse than the hatch?

Anyone know if the facelift vrs has better noise insulation? Its the one thing that tends to irritate me about the Octavia.

The noise in my estate is no worse than any other octavia I have been in.

I'd say generally no noisier, but can be a little boomy if the boot is empty and the load-cover is retracted / removed.

One think I have noticed about driving the Estate, is you can heat the wind noise from the roof rails while driving along which you wont get from the hatch.

But to be honest this doesnt bother me because I usually have the roof bars on anyway and often have a canoe on the roof which make much more noise than the roof rails alone.

Only experience of a modern hatch was the three hour test drive, but I don't think it's any worse. Find a friendly dealer who will let you take one out for an extended test!!

Had a vRS estate, now a vRS hatch. Can't say i've noticed a difference.

Never noticed any noise to be honest, apart from the wife :)
