I'm struggling!

Featured Replies

I really want to buy a Fabia Vrs but need to sell my Clio 182 first. Trying to sell it privately but no luck, looked into part exchange but only been offered £4500 and as I only £700 cash to play with, its not looking good. Most decent vrs with 50,000 or less miles are £5,500 plus. So annoying as I really want a vrs as soon as possible! Stan

You're trying to sell a car that no one wants & buy a car that everyone wants.

Welcome to the harsh reality.

I wouldn't say it's a car that generally no one wants. Clio 182s are brilliant cars and can embarrass alot more expensive cars, you can chuck it into corners at stupid speeds, something you can't do in a vrs. I just need something abit more economical. Stan

Really.. Still 5500? I paid 5800 for mine a year ago with 53k on.

As much as I want them to stay worth that much... they must be about for a little less than that, maybe not, I guess.... they do tick allot of boxes and haven't been replaced?

One with 60-70k on that's been looked after would still be a great car.. Fabia's are tough little cars and many of them on hre are well over 100k and still going strong.

Whats the details of the Clio? Has it got the Cup suspension? We're looking for one after swmbo's one lost a fight with a bus.

I would definitely support that statement about the mileage - mine has done over 80,000 miles (3 years old in August) and it still feels very tight and free from rattles.

OK, so it's had the brakes and entire suspension replaced but the engine has had nothing done to it except regular servicing. The only thing that feels worn is the bit of metal that holds the door in three 'stops'. That now feels quite indistinct, but doubtless that could be replaced cheaply enough.

I would far rather have a car that had done long A-road and motorway journeys than one that had done 3 miles every day to and fro from work/school/church/whatever for 5 years plus.

Someone on here paid a premium for a 5 year old car that had done 8,000 miles. That's an awful lot of standing around or lots of very short journeys on a cold engine, but each to his/her own.

I'll do you a deal............

Do like i did when i was selling my fun, join every related forum possible. It sold within a couple of days of putting it on the caddy forum. There must be loads of forums for Renaults

Try webuyanycar.com - but be honest about all scuffs including wheels.

Even if you refuse the deal it will give you an idea of where to start. I got rid of my 54 plate corolla to them and got £400 more than I was offered px at a main dealer. They reduced the online offer by £300 for a few bits I missed when I took it in. Then got my VRS LE privately and saved over £1k in total, for a car with 10k less miles.

The VRS is a great little car - you won't regret it!
