Nurburgring accident.

Haha, I'll be going back that's for sure :D. It will take a lot more than a big off and an even bigger bill to stop me going. Probably with a different car though next year.

Might want to check your brake balance while you're rebuilding as you have huge brakes up front and not much at the back don't you?

Yeah that's right. To be honest the car was perfectly balanced, it was the driver who was a little unbalanced :orb_bonk:

I actually had far less bias towards the front this year as i fitted Hawk HPS pads instead of the Hawk HP+ race pads. They were nowhere near as good but still miles better than standard :D

£99 for 1 day including 8 laps. If you did a 2 day trip you could take it slow on the first day and get some laps in, then get insurance for the second and go full bore!

No excess if you stuff it too, seems good!

the one thing that hours of playstation doesn't prepare you for is how much gradient there is, both uphill and downhill.

Nürburgring Car Storage, Servicing and Race Training - Insurance

Am I missing something or doers that insurance only cover the resulting costs to the 'ring itself (barriers etc) rather than your car or an others and you have to pay to have your vehicle inspected first ??

If there is one key series of corners it is the "hit miss hit" section which is just before the long LONG uphill stretch toward the Karussel. Losing a few mph through that set of right handers can cost a LOT of time on the long straight uphill slog. A good thing about GT4 on the ps2 in this respect is they've got that gradient set up well, and having a bad corner does really make you realise how much time you lose on the straight (based on a middle of the road car though, not a supercar/race car) :)

I can't wait for mid September now to go back. Anyone else coming? [guessing this thread is putting a few off - not me!]

Mr Devon, methinks you are getting confused?

Hit miss hit (miss hit miss) is way way before the Karussel, at a guess, about 3 miles?

It's just before Wehrseifen (prob slowest corner on whole track), which is just before Breischied.

Public liability usually means any damage to a third party - whether thats the Ring itself or another car - but their 10,000 euro limit wouldn't help if you wrote off a £100,000 Porsche :( Also doesn't cover damage to your own car.

Your UK motor insurers have to (by EU law) pay out any public liability costs on the continent (regardless of whether it's the Ring or not) but in past accidents on the Ring they've paid out but then gone through the courts to claim the money back out of the policyholder :thumbdwn:

I wonder whether it would be of any benefit if other cars were involved.

An increasing number of companies are specifying exclusions for the Ring, surely this clause would mean no cover (of any type) should you crash.

When I was there in June, a police car crashed into a parked 2009 R1 in the car park, oh and yes it was a WPC.

Just don't crash! Easy

I seriously lost the back end (talking almost 90 degrees to the track here!) of the Skroda around Metzgesfeld when I went. Kept turning into it until I hit the full-lock stop, then prayed! Then it finally responded and snapped back around the other way! A bit of a tank slapper moment then led on!

I poo'd myself. :tired:

Public liability insurance with an insurance policy's coverage of 10,000 euro per accident event

following material damage to the track Nürburgring : (Northloop / Nordschleife section only).

  • Crash barriers, including tyre barriers
  • Fences
  • Road surfaces
  • Green spaces
  • Road cleaning caused by leaking liquids
  • Towing cost (to a maximum of 300 euro)

I just read that as the ring itself, seems to me its more like paying £99 as a waiver of the costs to the ring upto 10,000 yoyo
