First hit from a google

IBM T43 14.1-inch 1.7GHz 40GB Laptop (Refurbished) | Overstock.com

Yes it's £250 but that is refurbished so will include a battery that holds charge, which isn't the case on most second hand laptops you see for sale.

Interesting that this laptop is supposedly 'worth' 3 times the amount that my similar spec laptop is

Mine is obviously worth more to me than what someone else would be prepared to pay for it so i intend to keep it for SWMBO to use whilst downstairs and possibly for my son even

Thanks Alex. I had a look too, and prices do seem to have dropped - maybe it will get replaced now :)

Dell don't have any great offers on at the mo , but if you keep an eye on Dell Special Offers, Cheapest Deals, E-Value Codes and Discount Coupons | dmXdimension you'll see deals for not much more than £300 and if you shop round there's a huge choice for under £350

Hot UK deals is also a very good place.

Look at this one from Asda for £200 for example.

With that for £200 that's why people are saying that you won't get £100 for a seven or eight year old P3 laptop.

so what kind or warranty are you offering with yours? ;)

There is actually 12 months extended warranty left on it :D - probably 4 times the amount of the other one!

Ahh you didn't say you had a 12 month warranty on it.

Does it also come with a new battery (I assume the warranty on it does not cover this as most don't) as that is the thing that fails most with laptops and they are typically around the £75-100 mark.

FWIW I wouldn't pay £250 for the machines I posted up and as Alex has already said if you pick your time well you can get a new, reasonable spec dell for the £200 mark.

I'm currently having a bit of a clear out and am binning....

A 4x Pioneer DVD writer which cost over £200 when I bought it (not worth anything now as 20x brand new ones can be had for £20).

Amstrad PCW8256.

Am486 120mhz base unit.

Pentium 2 233mhz base unit.

Not sure what to do with my Spectrum 128k yet as I suspect I may be able to get £10-20 for it with all the games if it works.

I'm a bit of a hoarder so my instinct is to keep things, even though I doubt they'll ever be used again. Now running out of space I simply have to chuck or sell.

I'd try the Amstrad on ebay before you bin it, and the speccy will sell no problem , especially if boxed.

The rest should go on freecycle though

The PCW and speccy will go for sure.

Speccy would get a specialist auction perhaps.
