hi, my name's chris and i'm from loughborough.

currently on the look out for an octavia to replace my mundano which was written off last week when i was reversed into by some bint backing her 4x4 out of her drive onto a main road!

i've had a look at a couple so far but they haven't been quite up to standard.

i'm hoping to find '01 or newer, sub 100k miles octavia, preferably not one of the slower ones either (1.6, 1.9 sdi etc...) for somewhere around £1500

does that sound realistic? feel free to tell me if it isn't!

is there anything i should be paying particular attention to when i'm looking at an octavia? known issues etc?

Have a look in the Octavia I forum for all the advice you'll need on them.

You can pick up older examples for £1500 but they'll usually be high mileage diesels or the smaller petrol engines.

I had a similar budget and model range and did get one (a bit higher than £1500) via autotrader.

A recent check did bring up atleast 2 cars around your requirements. Have a look!

yeah, i've been scouring the autotrader website since my crash last week and seen a few that look ok.

had my eye on a lovely looking one in derby but it's been sold...

went to look at one yesterday in leicester which was low mileage but the interior was rank, rust patches on the front door edges, plenty of scratches, remote locking knackered, boot badge half missing... :thumbdwn:

i'm hopeful something decent will crop up though.

not had my cheque from the insurance yet either - maybe they'll surprise me and i'll get a half decent payout so i can get a vrs! in my dreams!!!

been looking at insurance quotes as well - my f*&king insurance has gone up by over £300 at some places because i've been hit by another driver! fantastic!

In my experience.......decent ones go within a day or 2.
