47.3 Mpg!

Featured Replies

Today on the way back from the bodyshop I got 47.3 MPg at a Steedy 60MPH and 46MPG at 70MPH!

Is my computer telling porkies?

Are you still standard? If not, yes. :D

yes 100% standard, 600 miles on the clock.

Is my computer telling porkies?

No it's just telling you that you drive like a girl :P

I doubt if your computer is teling porkies, In CZ Auto Club Skoda run a very strict economy run I asked the recorders how the actual measured consumption compares to the onboard computer, the answer was it was very close.

If you switch to average you will probably be getting a figure in the low to mid 30's

No that was average!

have had 57 out of mine but not standard.....

47 is pretty good for std but not impossible...

mid 30's around town but 40+ easy on motorway runs if only doing 70ish..

does the mpg improve after a remap?

also does the mpg improve with mileage? I've only done 600 miles now.

mpg improves with mileage as does performance.

mpg also improves with rempa but as you'll use a heavier right foot it will go down. ;)

Best get some more miles on the clock then, feels quick so far and haven't pushed her yet.

i avrage 28 mpg around peterborugh..dam dual carridge way sprints

Joel

mine never goes below 29 round B'Ham town driving but on motorway runs at around 80mph the average never goes below 37mpg.

i have seen 46mpg on a run cross country to Barmouth once and 47 at a steady 55 through road works on the m42.

great innit when you think the Renaults we used to drive never really managed 30+mpg ever ! or at least mine didnt ;)

Adrian a quick question on this....

How does it improve with the remap ? I have always wondered this as even though you are using less throttle you are still putting more fuel through the engine at that throttle point ??

Please someone explain this as I have never understood this !

I think its because your using more boost?

Mine improved after remap...trick of the mind maybe.

Then I brought a vRS with a big wing...anything above 80 and it drops..except when a little less than a foot from another vRS with a big wing, then we both improve with mine being over the avg for that speed. *Private Test Road and oodles of trust*

I think its because your using more boost?

But you need more fuel to push the turbo to create more boost surely ?

Generally speaking, because there is more power you don't have to "rag it" so much to get going.

Not sure if the engine runs more efficiently after a remap as well though.

OK but more power is gained by using more fuel ! See where I am going with this ?

There is always a trade off.

I can see what you mean but......looking at it another way...doesn't a remap give the same amount of power using less fuel?

I'm sure someone will have a definative answer. ;)

No you will not be using less fuel would you, you are using the same amount at a different pedal postion. This is true with the Fabia especially as you need more fuel for more power.

Not trying to start anything but I really would like to know as I have thought about this long and hard.

I was in a remapped fabia yesterday getting 18mpg (average!) that was on full rag mode though.

My dear fellow, I though I saw a Fabia like this whilst I was out an about in my other pocket rocket...

I have no idea why it seems to use less fuel, I know it does not, but it appears that pedal position for pedal position it uses less, maybe it uses mor but you get to cruise speed quicker so use less overall getting there. Sorry bout pic's but 18mpg must be Sweeps worst nightmare.

No probs Ivan.;)

I know that if I stick to under 80mph I can get 40mpg....

.....this is on par with standard but you are right in saying the more power you use the more fule needed. This is definately the case when...eerrr...."pushing on"......I will see quite difference in mpg to standard.

I also have a sports dp/cat which contributes to this.

A good indicator is what I get out of a tank.....in standard form I use to get 425 miles...I now get anywhere between 320-380.

As an experiment I may run a single tank witht the boost controller set to minimum.......oh it's going to be soooooo slow....the things I do for science/clarity etc. ;):D

Apparently you can see a remapped Furby's soot trail from the Moon as well. ;)

Ave it :D

Maybe I should write an FAQ on this and find out the answer.
