Braking issue

Featured Replies

Well, its not an issue as such.

The vRS uses DOT4 brake fluid, but can I use DOT5.

Reason for question is I may be taking MrGrumpys car off him, and ive got new rear pads and discs I was going to chuck on, and change the fluid too, but, even thought im getting rid of the car, I may aswell put a better fluid it right?

Also, I am right in saying change pads and disc's then change fluid? Thats what ive always done, but then all my other cars have been older than me.

this is going a long way back to when I knew what fluid I could put in my MTB brakes, but didn't think DOT4 and DOT5 were interchangable...what you might want is DOT5.1 (Super DOT4)

Seconded, andypandypoos ;)

Isn't Dot 5 silicone brake fluid? Only for Classic cars, I seem to remember.

Brake fluid change every 2 years as per Skoda servicing regime.
