Correct paint finish on repairs

Featured Replies

Someone reversed into me the other week. It was minor damage, but I'm going ahead and claiming on their insurance. I took my car to the body shop that my local Skoda dealer uses (as they don't do body repairs themselves). I gave the basic details of the car to a receptionist, leaving out the VRS bit and she then sent for a repair guy to come out and make a note of all the damage in order to make an estimate.

Basically I'm worried because the details I gave were basic and my car has the black magic pearlised finish. What if they just spray the bumper plain old black??!! Does my vin number carry all these details?

The written estimate just states the car as a Skoda Fabia and the colour code they have detailed to use is written as M2C Black. Is this the correct finish? I have googled it, with no luck. :(

Your Vehicle registration will tell them which paint is used on the Car so they should use the correct paint.

I don't know what the paint code is for Black Magic but if you are unsure it is usually written on a sticker in the spare wheel well. Also it will be in your service manual.

If you are still unsure just ring the delear and ask for the paint code for your car registration.

Well if it's wrong, just send it back!

If they can't tell the difference between flat and pearlecent black I'd avoid them!

I'm such a worry monger! I have investigated this further and the code for my paint should be situated near the VIN. I have also just rang the body shop and have been reassured by the same information.

Thanks :o
