Mk2 Octy Vrs TFSI Service Question

Featured Replies

Hi there chaps,

I recently purchased a 2006 Mk2 Octy Vrs TFSI that has now covered just under 13,500 miles from new. The service booklet states that the last service was carried out in July at last year at 9k and the next service is due in July 2010. However the service indicator has started to count down and i have a week or so remaining until it is saying it has to be serviced. What would you recommend needs doing at the 3 year point with such low milage? I intend to carry out the work myself as I am competent enough to carry out most basic servicing myself (Next years timming belt is going to the specialists though!)

Thank you in advance, David

I suggest that you service the car now and put it onto fixed interval servicing (10,000 miles/1 year).

Do the normal stuff for a 10k service (oil etc)

Check to see if Brake fluid has been changed as if not it needs to be.

Also check in the service manual and see what is supposed to be carried out on both a 20k service and a 10k service and just do all of those

Thanks for the replys,

I'll have a check through the user manuals later and see what it says there. The brake fluid was carried out at the last service as there is a sticker on the reservoir stating this but it is not in the service history. I'll have a look later and carry out the 10k and 20k service points then. Can you recommend andy good parts stockists? I've been pointed in the direction of Unipart.

Cheers David

You're better off using genuine parts and oil for the sake of a few quid. Try your local dealer or Trade Parts Specialists (TPS).

I'll give my local dealers a call in the morning then and see what they can do for me. Cheers again for the advice
