Origin B2 who can fit them?

Featured Replies

I've got an Origin B2 that I'd like fitting in my vRS, anyone know a company that would fit it for me?

I spoke to a guy yesterday and he wanted

That's half the price of a mobile phone car kit install so I'd say it's pretty reasonable. What does fitting involve?

Sounds reasonable, i've seen prices around 80.00 for fitting a b2. Gonna get one myself real soon too.

fitting is easy, I could probably do it myself as I did on my previous car but I don't fancy doing it on a new car!

Basically, needs power wire running into the ingnition switched supply. Lazar detector/GPS reciever mounting in windscreen and cradle mounting on the dash somewhere.

yes he's a mobile fitter and covers the whole country all though he's based in Northants, he has a team of 6 fitters.

He doesn't stock B2's anymore as he's had problems with them, he said that the roadpilot is better, not seen what its like though.

New angel unit out now aswell.

The worst part of that job I think is finding the right switched power feed and tapping it. Central vents pop out and power, well your arm will go down the gap to pull wires up. Brackets, well it's not heavy...B&Q strip steel, bolt bend, attach, slide into ventside, job done.

I've only had the b2 since crimbo, don't fancy shelling out another 400 odd notes on something else unless its much better than the b2. The b2 doesn't do radar though do the others?

I was going to have it mounted on the right handside and use the air vents for the window demister. As for brackets was just going to use a double sided sticky pad/thing.

If anyone has got some pics of their mounted that would be very helpful.

I've been reading around and not seen any complaints about the b2, perhaps he just stopped stocking them due to a bigger profit margin on the other model, you never know. I did see some niggles about the Snooper S6 which put me off as I was going to go for that one. I'm thinking of getting the 'solo' version thus having one less wire to worry about, but it would then have to be mounted up on the dash as the ariel is on the back of the cradle.

As for making a bracket, for someone like me being very unpractical it's almost impossible.... I can't put a house plug on unless I have a diagram. :(

I can even remember back in my skool days, woodwork and metalwork was always a real problem, I used to find someone elses forgotten unfinished work in a cupboard then sand it down a bit and bang some nails in and pretend it was mine. :P

Yes I saw that. Although they look like they would look more at home in Flash Gordons spaceship, or maybe in a new mini cooper. Not sure it would suit my Fabia vRS.

As for Radar, I spoke to a guy at Origin the other day. He said they are waiting to see if the govt ban radar detection before they release their add on to the b2. He said it would be unfair to sell it while the legislation is pending. If the govt do outlaw them all the models with radar add ons will have to remove that part. If they do ban radar 'and' laser detection only the gps part will remain legal ie notifying us of the locations of camera's, accident blackspots etc rather than letting us know if they are actually working/in use.

Oh, Josh just posted a pic of his b2 installed on the dash. Thanks Josh.

bracket? what do u need that for?

re the radar thingy they've been saying that since August, more like they haven't made it yet? The cradle that comes with the B2 has all the connectors to add in the radar unit.

bracket? what do u need that for?

that was in reply to colins post about the vent brackets that people use.
