Touch Up Paints

Featured Replies

I have a Stone Grey Octavia and need some touch up paint - two small scratches and a graze on rear wheel arch. I have tried Halfords but they only seem to stock 2/3 colours. Will I have to go to a Skoda dealer ?

Go to your dealer and get the proper 2 tube pack (1 colour, 1 laquer). However the paint should be a near perfect match and due to the sticky gloopy nature of the laquer, that remains untouched, ie just use the paint not laquer.

do they do a touch up pen or is it just a spray can they do?

There both paint sticks, with its own small brush to apply.

I would also imagine you can get the 2 part spray cans pack as well.

halfords probably do a volkswagen colour which is the same-the touch-up kit for my diamond silver octavia is exactly the same as vw colour

The touch up pens are very good value from the dealers - no more expensive than Halfords for sure.

I got mine from the dealers - appart from some oil the first thing I bought ( 2 part , small brush). The match is very good - because I have already used it on 2 small marks that appeared just below the rear screen :( .

It could just be me but I have found that the stuff from Halfords is never as good as the dealers especially when its a metallic colour.

anyone got part numbers and prices?

Just toddle along to your dealers armed with the knowledge of what paint code your car is, and approach the chap at the spares counter and I am sure that if he hasnt got any in stock, they could get it in about 2 days.

They arent expensive..my last pack was cheaper than the Halfords version.

See post above - need paint code.

The magic black HFB 380 034 9910/C9Z/Z4Z4 CERNA MAGICKA

Not expensive -

4.21 of your English pounds last time I bought one - which admittedly is a year or so ago...

I used the official touch-up on my stone grey Octavia, be warned that the colour match with this colour isnt perfect, I tried both just paint and mixing paint and laquer together, both resulted in a lighter colouring - may be due to direction of paint being applied! Now my black magic vRs is a doddle to match!!! (first chip @ 5 days old due to boot spoiler meeting low beam of multi-storey car park whan tail gate openened  )

IMHO Halfords do a better touch up pen...has a fine brush for scratches and a nib for stone chips.....I really was suprised at how good it is.

Colour match....I don't think just putting the paint on is going to give you the perfect match.....the lacquer gives it depth so although the colour is probably matched it will just look "flat".....if you know what I mean.

Halfords do two versions. One is a "two stick" and the other a "three stick". I think the two stick is for normal paint and the three stick is for metallic paint.

However, I did notice (and purchase) the "black magic perlescent" one under the Skoda category, but there was a black metallic one for VW (can't remember exact name). Wouldn't they be the same ?

No..pearlescent paint is different to metallic paint.
